When Tragedy Strikes: Distress Centres Help
As most of the nation has probably heard, our home base of Calgary suffered a horrific tragedy this week. Five young adults lost their lives at the hands of a friend and school mate. Times like these create an overwhelm of emotion in many of us for varying reasons. We may not know what the parents of these six young people are going through, the unimaginable pain; however, each of us have experienced pain and loss to some degree. Hearing the devastating news of someone else's tragedy can trigger memories and feelings about our own difficult experiences. Continue reading "When Tragedy Strikes: Distress Centres Help" →
Civics 101: Would You Act to Right a Wrong?
Would you act to right a wrong?
When Cheryl donated her SUV in March of 2012, her intention was to serve and support her area animal shelter. Thanks to her practical compassion (her vehicle raised a donation of $2100.00!) and written feedback, her donated Toyota Rav4 will inspire young people to think beyond themselves to find unique ways to contribute to their communities. Laughter IS the Best Medicine!
It's Wednesday. Have you seen that GEICO Insurance ad about being happier than a camel on Wednesday? He's my favourite and I've contributed substantially to the 21 million views, I'm sure! If you haven't watched it you should, so hear you go:

Be An Angel – Donate a Car
"We only get so many trips around the sun." I heard those words in a recent hit song and it stopped me in my tracks. It's so easy to get caught up in the angst of everyday life – the busyness, the stress, the responsibilities. Why do we allow all the crazy? When it's all said and done so much of it isn't very meaningful anyway. Here at DAC, we know that something as material as your ol' car can make one of those trips around the sun meaningful indeed! Calgary Birds Lost in a House Fire
It is with sad hearts that we share in the recent news of one of our receiving charities here in Calgary. On Saturday, March 15, 2014, the home that houses Birdline Canada Ltd. I have said for a couple of years that I don't know what I'll do when I have to let go of my beloved car. I still don't. It was involved in a hit & run last week and I just found out it's a total loss. I'm now face-to-face with what the words "recycle your ride" really mean on a personal level! Make a Wish Foundation: Winter Donor Warms Hearts
Are you ready to make a wish? Winter has really shown all of her stripes this season! She has blanketed our country with snow, more snow, even more snow, ridiculous amounts of snow! And for good measure? Ice rain, hail, and even snow-thunder and frost quakes in some areas!
Can you find the car hidden in the photo? A photo like this one came to us from Mr. Tonnelly, one of our generous Ontario donors!
