Lola the donated Fiat 500 has done so much good in her first fourteen years! That will come as no surprise once you meet the beautiful human that donated her.
Good vibe donors
Sometimes a donor and their story just get us right in the feels in a special way. A.G. and her donated Fiat are one of those combinations! As so many donors do, she came to us with the facts. And, as her process evolved, more and more of her generosity of heart emerged. Bit-by-bit her history of giving and volunteering became apparent — as did her delightful sense of humour!
Oh, the difference one (beloved) donated Fiat can make
“Knowing that Abbey Cat Adoptions will benefit thanks to your auction process makes giving up my car a whole lot easier.” When A.G. filled in the form for her donated Fiat she had a sense of just how much the car meant to her,
“(My) attachment may be even a little stronger than for some other folks, as the little Fiat is my first car (I bought it later in life, when moving from Toronto to Durham Region for a few years). But that said, my attachment to organic earthlings, particularly cats, is stronger. I’m so happy that ‘Lola”s sale will benefit Abbey Cats >^^<“
And sweet little Lola did, indeed, make a difference for Abbey Cat Adoptions!
Donated Fiat sent to auction
When a vehicle is donated (for ANY charity in Canada!), it is either re-sold, or recycled.
Vehicle donation begins with a few vehicle notes. Make, model, mileage, and overall condition count. When A.G. donated her Fiat, she ticked all of the right boxes for us.
“I got the summer tires put on today and the techs informed me that the car needs to have the alignment done. I’d determined in November, after getting the winter tires put on and spending $3K on fuel induction service, replacing front brake pads and rotors, having the brake system flushed, and 4-wheel alignment, that I would donate the car this spring. I do not have the means for continued bi-annual repair/replacement expenses. Had I chosen to do the alignment and oil change, the car would have been fine. The engine and battery are fine. The car does have a 3-year-old dent / scrape above the rear passenger seat wheel, but the dent / scrape has never rusted. The hood has an odd kind of whitish ring that has been there for several years, perhaps from too much time in the sun?”

Most vehicle donations skip along at a speedy pace. It is not unusual for the tow truck to arrive within just a day or two of your submission online! That free tow gets things rolling quickly.
When a vehicle is recycled things continue at that pace. You might see your receipt within just a couple of weeks.
Lola the donated Fiat needed a little more time. She was re-sale ready, and our auction house ensured she was picked up in a timely manner. Our re-sale and auction agents make it their business to shop donated vehicles around until they find the buyer willing to offer the strongest dollar return possible for the vehicle. A.G.’s Fiat didn’t find her new home right away. She had to roll through more than one auction sale. But when the right buyer arrived on the scene, they made a strong bid. That meant a hearty donation for Abbey Cat and a proper receipt for A.G.!

Lola raised $1006.25 at auction! A.G. wrote, “It has been a real pleasure donating my car through Donate A Car Canada! Your personal touch is very much appreciated. Now that it’s all official, I will share with you my official tribute to Lola (see below). Lola and I used to transport Abbey Cats to and from vet appointments, hence the Feline Imperial Auto Transport! Thank you for helping me help kitty cats >^^<“
The ripple effect of one donated Fiat
A.G. and Lola so touched the hearts of our little team here at Donate a Car Canada. We love-love-love it when generosity comes in layers like this.
