6 Wheels, 2 Charities, and a Whole Lot of Love | Harley Davidson Tops the List

What do a Harley Davidson Sportster, a Suzuki Gladius, and a Vespa Scooter have in common?

“Can I donate a motorcycle or scooter?” The answer here at Donate a Car Canada is, “Yes!” Well…maybe? Probably! Each donated two wheeler has a story of its own. One little band of friends in central Canada donated three (3!), and each had a generous outcome of its own. The Harley Davidson Sportster topped the donation outcome list!

Harley Davidson donor gifts marginalized peoples in B.C.

D.V.’s twenty-three year old Harley Davidson Sportster was taking up space in the garage. It wasn’t being used any longer. While it had been running well, it had been parked for some time. Calling in on a Wednesday in early Spring, D.V. received the answers he was looking for: donation was the right way to go for his trusty Harley. A few minutes on the phone with one of our team, a charity of choice selected, and things were underway for his motorcycle to be picked up and re-sold.

Then, the happy outcome for the Victoria Cool Aid Society. That two-decades-old Sportster was re-sold for a donation outcome of $1807.30! “For more than 50 years, Cool Aid has been connecting people in need with the necessities to live healthier, happier lives. From emergency shelter and permanent housing to primary health care and nutritious meals, Cool Aid offers life-changing services to thousands of people in the capital region each year.” D.V.’s Harley Davidson donation dollars help keep this work alive!

But there’s more for VCAS!

T.M. chose the same charity, donating a Vespa Scooter for the cause. How much did she raise for her charity of choice? $1314.40!

And this group of friends wasn’t done, yet…

M.D. had a 2009 Suzuki Gladius that had not been started in ten years. “‘Definitely needs an oil change, very old gas removed, a battery, and anything else to get it running.” Not running? No problem! First, we had our re-sale/recycle agent pick it up. Sure enough! It had re-sale value despite it’s well-loved condition. Then, we received payment from our agent.

A whopping $1478.70 was sent to M.D.’s chosen charity, the Regina Humane Society.

Who knew that six wheels could do so much good for two charities? From a Harley Davidson to a scooter, every vehicle counts in giving to the causes we care about.

Motorcycle donations on the rise

DACC prides itself on choice of charity. Your donated scooter, van, car, truck, SUV, or motorcycle is a valuable monetary gift to ALL Canadian charities.

Spring is the best time to donate a scooter. This is one way of raising hundreds of donation dollars for multiple charities. Many Canadians choose this rewarding option when clearing out the garage or storage facility.

How much money will my charity get when I donate a vehicle?

Vehicles in a variety of conditions wind their way into our hearts. Donors visit with no way of knowing just how honoring of their beloved works this process can be!

If a vehicle is recycle ready, the value is determined by the scrap metal and parts that can be taken from the vehicle. In this case, a Harley Davidson does not have much left to give at the end of its driveable life simply because it is light weight.

In these circumstances, the donations can be around $50.00 – $100.00, in the donor’s name, to their charity of choice. Even though the donation outcome feels a little low, remember: you still receive the free tow. Furthermore, your ‘bike will be recycled in an environmentally safe manner.

Re-selling for your charity of choice

When you opt to donate a Harley Davidson (or any other vehicle) and the ‘bike is auctioned, our free tow/pick-up service applies. This is a Donate a Car Canada sure-thing.

Once the vehicle is on site with our re-sale (sometimes an auction) agent, it will be entered into the promotion process. Re-sellers may post the vehicle on their website, or talk it around to always-interested buyers. With more re-sellers/auctions moving on-line, that process is robust. You might even be able to search, view, and bid on a hoped-for ride from the comfort of your couch.

We’ve recently processed a Piaggio Fly for over $500.00 on behalf of
The War Amps . A Honda Jazz will do the same for Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides
.

Should I donate my Harley Davidson?

Motorcycle and scooter donation is a seasonal affair here at DACC: Spring and Summer are our donation windows for ‘bikes. This is simply because that’s when the buyer base is strongest, and we can ensure the strongest possible donation outcome for your charity.

It’s best if the motorbike is running and in good condition, of course. This allows us to re-sell the vehicle. Again, this results in a higher return for the cause you love.

But don’t worry if your motorcycle is on its last wheels. Some agents (in some parts of Canada) will accept recycle-ready scooters. It’s always worth asking about!

Ready to inquire about your vehicle? Take a few minutes to fill in our donation form. This will give us the information we need to explore our best options for you and your charity. Then, wait for a phone call from your transport agent. Finally, watch your inbox for your charitable tax receipt! It’s simple, quick, and free!

Simply click the Donate Now button on our home page, or give us a call at 1-877-250-4904. We’ll be happy to assist!

Find us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, too. There you will be able to keep up-to-date on posts. We love to showcase amazing donors and charities in every province in Canada!
