I donated a 2001 Acura that has a value of $2000. The site asks if you can drop the car of in Innisville for auction and mentions nothing of scrapping it. I could have driven the car to a scrapper near my office and received $500 and given it to Charity myself. So to have a car towed and receive $100 is just not right.
Note from Donate a Car (May 5, 2014): Upon looking at your file, we have noticed that there were several communications with you via email and telephone discussing the options of recycling or auction, and also the value of your vehicle. We advised at the time of possible low outcomes for your vehicle at auction, and even offered to deliver the vehicle back to you and cancel the donation if you were not satisfied with the possibility of a low outcome. As such, we received confirmation from you that you were ok to recycle your car with the guaranteed tax receipt of $100. We’re sorry that our form created confusion regarding the drop off, and we are disheartened that your experience was not satisfactory to you. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us direct staff in a continued effort to ensure that our donors are well informed of their options before their final donation is made.
