Have you got the bug already? That not-so-quiet chittering in the back of your mind that’s rallying the cry to clean out the cupboards, dust out the corners, and organize the garage? Spring cleaning is top of mind as we settle in with our first Spring snow storm in Alberta.

Spring Cleaning — Gettin’ it done around the house

Companies abound to help with our many tasks as cleaning and organizational gurus blog, Youtube, and publish books on how we can get a little peace of mind by sorting through the sock drawer.

If you’re looking for a start to your own Spring cleaning venture, Good Housekeeping can give you a nudge in the right direction in almost every corner of your home.

Your “second home” | Spring cleaning tips for your car

What about outside the four walls of the house? You spend so much time chauffeuring, commuting, and connecting with loved ones in your home-on-wheels, and Wheels.ca can help with the how-tos of getting that home away from home in top shape for the season.

‘Ready to do more than just clean the stuff you have?

If you’re ready to clear the driveway altogether, or just need an unused vehicle removed from the garage, consider donating to one of Canada’s far-reaching charities. Your “junk” really can become another person’s treasure, and we’re here to help with the clean-up!

We make this bit of spring cleaning simple, cheerful, and free.

First, get a quick start by clicking the red button below. It will take you to our donation form. Just a few minutes and you’ll be on your way to a free tow. ‘Looking for human connection? Call us at 1-877-250-4904 where you’ll have the chance to talk with a funny, savvy, caring human!

Then, just wait for your phone to ring. That will be the tow agent calling to arrange tow timing that suits you best.

Finally, watch your inbox. The tax receipt from your charity of choice will land there once we have processed payment for your donated vehicle.

Wherever possible, we re-sell donated vehicles (as-is, to the highest bidder). Where needed, we recycle them. Either way, your chosen charity (you really can choose ANY Canadian charity!) will receive the net proceeds from the processing of your donated van, truck, SUV, car, or motorcycle.

Spring cleaning with a generous flare! We can’t wait to serve you well…

Mental health issues directly and indirectly affect all Canadians. Your car, van, SUV, truck, or motorcycle donation will help!

Fast facts | The Canadian Mental Health Association breaks it down

Mental health and mental illness: what is the difference?

Illness and health are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same thing.

“Mental health” is a concept similar to “physical health”: it refers to a state of well-being. It includes our emotions, feelings of connection to others, our thoughts and feelings, and being able to manage life’s highs and lows.

The presence or absence of a mental illness is not a predictor of being healthy mentally; someone without a mental illness could have poor mental health, just as a person with a mental illness could have excellent mental health.

Read more on the CMHA website!

What does this have to do with me?

It has really only been in my lifetime that we have started talking openly about this aspect of our wellbeing. If you are a little older, you may well remember a time when feelings simply were not discussed. Maintaining composure and bottling things up were signs of strength. We have moved beyond that, now. There is a growing permission to name what is true for all of us: we are resilient; we are vulnerable.

Our emotional and processing health needs the same attention we might give a tummy ache, a broken leg, or a migraine. Minding our emotions and overall wellbeing is as important as taking care of our cardiovascular system.

In wobbly times like these, turning attention inward is important. We are learning to take care of our self — maybe with some of the same compassion we are quick to offer each other!

How can I help my loved ones?

And that compassion that you so readily turn toward your friends and family is important. Do you need to tag in some extra support? Here are a few of the charities that we work alongside through vehicle donation:

Your local chapter of the CMHA

Breaking Free Foundation

Crisis Intervention & Suicide Prevention Centre of BC

Horizons For Youth

Kids Help Phone

Mental Health Foundation

Sunshine Therapy Dogs

Umbrella Society for Addictions & Mental Health

Westman Mental Wellness & Suicide Prevention

Your local Distress Centre

How you can help your mental health charity today

Perhaps you would like to give the cause you love a little extra back up? The charities named above are just a few — your car, you choice! You can gift your vehicle to ANY Canadian charity. Aid the work of the cause you love by donating your car, truck, van, SUV, or motorcycle. Re-sold or recycled, it will bring a valuable donation. The tow is always free. Moreover, you will receive a tax receipt from your charity, too!

Not quite ready to donate? Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter! There you will get an overall feel for how we care for each other and our charities. This is a caring community, here to serve you.

It’s time to cheer on Canada at the Paralympics! We can support differently abled Canadians creatively. Here’s how…

Paralympics in the spotlight

Last night was a late night: I stayed up to watch Canada and the U.S. reach for gold in women’s hockey! There is something truly joyful in cheering for those who have worked hard at what they love. Happily, the thrill of witnessing excellence in sport is just a few days in. There is so much more to come in the weeks ahead!

The Canadian Paralympic Committee reports that the games will run from “March 6 to 15 March 2026 and feature six sports – Para alpine skiing, Para biathlon, Para cross-country skiing, Para ice hockey, Para snowboarding, wheelchair curling.”

They go on to say that we could have as many as 600 athletes and up to 79 medal events! Visit the CPC website to learn how, “Paralympic athletes are world-class competitors.” They have “…remarkable stories that can make an impact on people of all ages. Paralympic sport is truly super exciting to watch and follow.”

Cheer the team, care close to home

I am writing this from the comfort of my own couch. In fact, I am barely an armchair athlete, let alone a real athlete! Maybe you can relate?

I am aware of “abilities” and “disabilities” in a different way when an Olympic torchlight shines on Canadians. My work history includes some years spent in respite care (in homes, and in the school system). During those years I worked with children and adults with diverse in strengths and abilities. I have some small understanding of what it takes for our differently abled athletes to get where they are. Competition on a world stage is a playful reminder. Let’s cheer and support our fellows for whom everyday life is made more complicated by unique challenges.

Canada is home to charities whose aim it is to ensure accessibility. They work for equality, and inclusion for all Canadians. To that end, these are community-focused works. Some are working in our schools. Many are passionate about ensuring opportunities in work and sports.

While we cheer the wins and losses of athletes in Beijing this winter, we can support those our athletes represent here at home.

Giving where you care

Your car, truck, van, SUV, or motorcycle can help. An unused, unwanted, and in-the-way car turns into big dollars for charity here at Donate a Car!

A quick definition for clarity on who’s who (from one of our charities, Special Olympics BC):

“Special Olympics is solely for athletes with intellectual disabilities. The Paralympics focus more on physical disabilities. The Olympics and Paralympics are about elite competition and specialization…”

Our wish here is simply to bring our attention to our country’s athletes and to all people who are differently abled. That said, are you looking for a charity that is focused on athletics? Look no further! Or, if you prefer to give to a work with a different focus, no problem. Either way, consider one of these groups as your charity of choice:

Cerebral Palsy Alberta

Canadian Cerebral Palsy Sports Association (CCPSA)

Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba

Christian Horizons

CNIB

Connected In Motion

Developmental Disabilities Resource Centre of Calgary

Edmonton Down Syndrome Society

Elves Special Needs Society

Halton Down Syndrome Association

Inclusion Foothills

March of Dimes Canada

Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society (LMDSS)

Renfrew Educational Services Society

Special Olympics Calgary

Special Olympics British Columbia Society

Spinal Cord Injury BC

Special Olympics Society of Nova Scotia

Special Olympics Ontario

Saskatchewan Cerebral Palsy Association Inc.

Special Olympics Saskatchewan

Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association

Ups and Downs – Calgary Down Syndrome Association

Variety – The Children’s Charity of BC

Voice of Albertans with Disabilities

Wheelchair Basketball Canada

Winnifred Stewart Foundation

YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region

We’re ready to roll when you are

Our online form takes less than 10 minutes to fill out, if you are ready to go ahead. Donations move along at the pace that suits you best. It is standard for a car to go from “donated” to picked-up within 3 – 5 business days. So, if you have a car that needs to get out of the drive way, we can help in a hurry!

We make estate donations easy, too. This can be a gentle way for an executor or Power of Attorney to care for a loved one.

Not only that, business owners find this process quick and efficient. ‘Need to move old fleet or business vehicles? We can tackle the details and move the units so you don’t have to.

Keep this creative sort of human kindness in mind as you settle into the couch to watch your favourite Olympic sport this winter! Better yet, fill in your donation form while watching your athletes go for gold! We’re one click away…

It’s Heart Month! Raise the pulse of your beloved charity with a Valentine they’ll remember!

Valentine, Gal-entine…love it or leave it, this month is all about heart

This is it! The month when you have every permission you ever needed to offer a “valentine” to the people, places, and causes you love. We get it. So much commercialism! Fakery. Pink-ness!

Buying in to chocolates, flowers, and bling may just not be your thing.

But love? You know you’re all about the love!

And Heart Month is a great time to turn fluff and bother into the gift that will keep your charity’s heart beating strong.

Heart Month

February is about more than just heart-shaped cards and sweets.

Heart Month is an opportunity to attend to our health, and the health of the ones we love. Particularly, heart health. If this is a cause close to you, visit the Heart & Stroke Foundation to learn more about how to get involved in your province!

A valentine for any Canadian charity you love

Moreover, charity of choice turns vehicle donation for any charity into heart work. You can donate your car, van, truck, SUV, or motorcycle to any registered Canadian charity. Really! ANY one of them.

So, who do you love? Is your heartbeat for vulnerable kids or people in need? If you or a loved one has experienced illness, your care may be focused on a diabetes, cancer, or heart disease charity. Social justice, global concerns, clean water, or food and housing security: Canada has a charity for that.

You might be all about toe beans and floppy ears: there are thousands of charities for you that need your TLC! Wildlife and the environment? Canada has a charity for that, too.

‘Need a little help making a decision? Visit CanadaHelps. You can also just pop over to our Charities page to see who is actively on our own receiving list!

Will you be our valentine?

Do you have an unused, or unwanted vehicle you’re ready to turn into a valentine for charity? This may be the easiest gift you give all season!

The process?

Simple (It takes less than 10 minutes to fill in the donation form).

Free (You’ll get a call from the towing agent pronto — they’ll set up free pick up timing that works for you).

Quick (Then, it’s just a matter of time until your charity receives the net proceeds and you have your tax receipt).

Are you a charity just waiting on a few valentines to come your way?

We can help! You are just a few steps away from getting set up with our vehicle donation program! We will take care of every detail in your donors’ car donation experience. CanadaHelps has you covered in getting tax receipts right into the hands of your donors, too. There is no cost to you for this service!

From our hearts to yours, donors and charities alike: Happy Valentine’s Day! May you be met by community, compassion, and connection through out the year ahead.

Canadians have been donating cars for Cancer for over 20 years! Did you know there are around 500 charities dedicated to cancer research and support in our amazing country? Every one of them can receive your vehicle donation at no cost or effort on the charity’s side of things.

Donors give cars for cancer because they care

Every vehicle donation has a story. Because so many Canadians are directly and emotionally impacted by cancers, thousands of generous folx donate cars for cancer every year.

One of our fabulously generous outcomes in recent months was M.L.’s Ford Model A donation. The short story?

$10,687.50 was raised for the Canadian Cancer Society!

The Alberta Cancer Foundation was the happy recipient of multiple recycle-ready donations from the same donor over the past few years, too. This isn’t unusual! Vehicle donors love the experience of giving in this way, and they often come back whenever they, or a loved one, have a car, truck, van, SUV, or motorcycle that can aid the cause they love.

Personal connection and donating cars for cancer

Visible fund raising efforts draw caring attention to some cancers. These campaigns matter so much! Research and treatment development mean that illness that historically would have resulted in death is now treatable and survivable. One such is prostate cancer.

One vehicle donor had a personal mission to raise awareness and compel action. He had a close call with prostate cancer and it shook him to the core. The result was a radical generosity! He donated an auction-ready Mercedes that resulted in a donation of over $27,000.00 for Prostate Cancer Canada!

Kids Cancer Care Foundation receives 5 vehicle donation — from one donor!

When a donor found herself settling an Alberta estate, she needed a simple solution for managing multiple vehicles left on her loved one’s property. One by one, we excitedly watched as each unique donation rolled in on behalf of her charity of choice, Kids Cancer Care.

When the agent successfully completed her first free tow, she wrote in to note, “Very good service.” The second wave of vehicles were helped along by a, “Very nice young man,” too!

All-in-all, KCC received the net proceeds from her generously donated estate 1992 Buick Regal, 1984 Chevrolet Geo Citation, 1981 Oldsmobile Tornado (she had a “tear in her eye” as she watched this one roll away), 1981 Ford F-250, and 1980 Ford Econoline. These vehicles added up to thousands of donation dollars for her charity of choice!

Every car counts for cancer

Recycle-ready or auction primed, every vehicle counts when donated for your chosen cancer organization. The process is simple, quick, and free. Not sure who to direct your gift to? You might visit CanadaHelps for a robust list of charities to choose from.

Ready to jump right in? Fill in an online form (it will take you less than 10 minutes). Then wait for your supporting transport agent to call you to arrange your free tow. Finally, watch your inbox. That’s where you’ll see your tax receipt at process end!

We can’t wait to work alongside you and your chosen cancer charity!

Vehicle donation is certainly about bringing in much-needed funds for your charity of choice. And it’s about so much more!

More than one kind of green in this kind of giving!

Vehicle donation is a win-win-win. Here’s how:

Win #1: Your charity of choice (you can give to ANY Canadian charity) receives otherwise inaccessible donation dollars. Because there is a lot involved in processing cars for donation, this kind of fund raising is out of reach for most individual charities. Donate a Car Canada takes care of all of the details from first steps all the way through to the tax receipt. This means your organization incurs $0.00 in costs or fees. So, there’s the monetary value of your gift to the charity, and also the absolute simplicity of the process on their end of things! Maybe this is actually a double-win in itself?

Win #2: You receive a free tow, a tax receipt, and a clear driveway. Hmmmm. Maybe this is a win-win-win as well?

Win #3: Here’s where there’s another kind of green in the giving. More than just cash-in-hand for your cause, you are making a direct impact on Canada’s environment. Vehicles are re-sold whenever possible, allowing for continued use and less waste. Recycle-ready vehicles are processed in an environmentally friendly manner. A win for all of is.

The ripple effects of your simple human kindness

All of those wins, and we haven’t addressed the intangibles of the generosity of vehicle donation! Again and again we see the rippling outward of the already-extraordinary goodness of giving in this way. The ripple effects start with the vehicle donor, of course. And then there’s the experience that generosity sparks in our transport agents (they really dig serving donors like you!). Beyond that there’s the extended invitation to the donor’s loved ones and community to give as they are able, where they are able.

Not everyone is in a position to donate a car, but each of us have something to offer our communities. Every act of kindness spurs us on to reciprocate, or to initiate, our own loving actions!

One donor’s experience says it all

G.K. donated their recycle-ready Honda for the First Nations Child & Family Caring Society of Canada. They write,

“I was very attached to my old car and found the entire donation process
very emotional and it has taken time for me to process everything.
This being said, I have only positive feedback about every step of this
process with you. I am very glad to have chosen Donate a Car as the
organization through which I made this donation.

The biggest reason was that I liked being able to choose the charity to which I am donating and
you had so many great charities to choose from.
I also appreciated that I spoke to a caring, and helpful human when I first
called about the process and how to get started. This person had a lot of good information, knew about the car
conditions and was very honest about how the car would contribute to a
donation based on the description of the condition. They also had great
information on how the process works and the process specific to Quebec,
and could direct me to the right person to ask questions to about the
registration changes.

Then, it was time for the tow…

Locally, the garage I worked with and the person who came to pick up the
vehicle really made an effort during the busy season of tire change over,
to pick up the car and facilitate the registration change process. They
were even flexible with the pick up time, but were honest about their
availability and managed expectations well.

I hope that you can keep up the good work and maintain the humanistic
approach of this organization. It is very refreshing when the rest of the
world is automating so many interactions.”

Is this kind of giving too good to be true?

We pride ourselves on being a business that readily provides full disclosure. This is important from the onset of your vehicle donation process.

We have three methods of managing your donated car, van, SUV, truck, motorcycle, or boat. Each method is curated to your unique vehicle. Every truck has a tale to tell; every SUV is singin’ its own song. So, we need to be sure we don’t apply a one-process-fits-all system.

1) If your vehicle is selected for our recycle process, the donation amount for a vehicle can be between $30.00 – $800.00. This is dependent on the area in which it is donated, and what the market will pay for the year/make/model. The vehicle will be picked up by our towing agent at no cost to you.

2) Your vehicle may be considered for sale at auction. Several factors go into qualifying a vehicle for auction. These include, but are not limited to, drivability, type of mechanical problems (if any), age, damage, visual appearance, and mileage.

Vehicles sold at auction are sold ‘as is’ and ‘unreserved’. They are sold to the highest bidder, as a full and final sale. Outcome at auction varies. As such, we cannot guarantee a specific sale result.

3) Our third option applies to vehicles that may not perform well at auction, but that are not ready for recycling. Our re-sale/recycle process will see our agent pick up your vehicle for free.

Once they have it on their yard they will assess it to determine if it should be re-sold or recycled. This will be based on the current market. If they see re-sale value in your vehicle, they will advertise it to their own buyer base, selling it as-is, to the highest bidder. They will send us the net proceeds from the re-sale price. If they determine that they will not find interested buyers, they will recycle your car.

Our experience tells us that we do not always see Blue/Black book value when we employ the re-sale process. That said, if you explore our social media posts you’ll see that we routinely see vehicles sell for thousands of dollars in donation returns for the donors’ charities!

Vehicle donation is simple, quick, free

The benefits of vehicle donation extend far beyond helping the chosen charity. And helping that charity is so very important in and of itself! ‘Ready to embark on your own donation experience? Fill in our online form! In less than 10 minutes you’ll be on your way to your free tow. Or, call in to 1-877-250-4904. A funny, happy, capable human is at-the-ready to walk you through. Then it’s just a matter of waiting for your tow call, and receiving your tax receipt. One generous, impactful, ripple-making way to show your charity of choice that you care!

Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to make 2026 a year of living well (and vibrantly!) through simple helpfulness.

What your tiny actions can do to keep your spirit strong

Did you know that small, seemingly mundane rituals and structured activities boost our spirits? And, when we let go of small rituals, our mood can flag. Getting out of bed, having a cup of tea, sending a routine text to a friend. These small, daily, habits are important in bolstering our sense of self and purpose.

“Purpose” can feel a bit overwhelming. It’s such a broad and intangible pursuit. In Japan, they simplify this by replacing the language of, “Find your purpose,” to something more like, “Be useful to someone today.”

Why does this matter? Because when we have even a small mission of extending helpfulness or kindness, it helps life feel more full. Rich. Alive.

Expanding our lungs; expanding our mission

Keeping things simple and sustainable is really important when we are living this kind of mission rich life. If we add one thing to, “Be useful to someone today,” it might be, “Just notice!”

There are all kinds of names for the ritual of noticing. The Examine. Gratitude. Meditation. In short, it is a practice of being wonderstruck. Attentive to moments of awe. Taken up with gratitude. We become aware of a raindrop on a leaf, the warmth of a coffee mug on a chilly day, or the light of the sun on the building across the street. Tiny moments where, when we pause to pay attention, we notice that we feel alive.

Bring that same attention into your acts of human kindness? Well, it’s an experiment worth trying! Is there anything more enlivening than lending a hand?

Being useful comes in all shapes and sizes

The mission of simply being one who does Good when it’s called for isn’t meant to be overwhelming. Some of us are destined for notoriety and fame and next-level wealthy philanthropic gestures.

But most of us? We’re just simple folx living pretty tiny lives. Simply doing something helpful for someone is meant to be a replicable act! Hold a door. Acknowledge the name on a nametag at the grocery check out. Clear out the dishwasher.

Excess and unused clothing in the closet? Share with your local shelters. ‘Have a stack of old cell phones sitting in a drawer. Re-set them and donate them to a safehouse. Is there an old car just sitting in the back parking pad? Donate it for the charity you love.

When there is no money to spare, consider donating your skill or your time. Simply give what you can, where you can, when you can. If that’s talent or toys or tinkering — it all counts!

Imagine a world where every human made this their personal mission! We can do it. C’mon — let’s do it!

It’s a new year. 2026 has come, one of our former DACC gals hopefully commented, with 365 new possibilities. How do you tackle the flip of the calendar? Resolutions? Rebellion against resolutions? Same-old, same-old?

New Year resolutions with a twist

I’m not much for resolutions at the beginning of the year. Long experience (I’ve had almost 55 calendar flips, now) tells me if I’m not resolved to sort myself out in March or August, I probably won’t have stickier stick-to-it zazz in January. But I am a wonder-er. I reflect (ruminate – unproductively?) a lot. Consider. Get curious about. Was I grateful for the goings-on of 2018, and will I learn from the wobbly, worrisome bits? Did I grow in generosity? In inclusion and understanding? Is my thinking smaller than it was a year ago? More expansive?

And who will I mature into in 2026? Will I have suffering or crisis thrust into my life? Will my choices bring those things down on my family? This new year, will I choose to live with Goodness and courage, or will I make excuses for a life that is small and withholding and afraid?

I wonder.

Letting go – and holding on – in the New Year

A friend posted her new year hopes on Facebook,

“After sitting back and hiding for a number of years I’m going to do something different this year…I’m not going to focus on changing my life or better myself, or eliminate the negative things or people in my world. You will NEVER succeed in doing that. I’m going to do my best to look at others, to try to see things differently, and give of myself and my time to help others. This is hard for me because I am extremely comfortable in my bubble…”

Instagram had a reminder the other day:

Maybe

Let it go

Isn’t always

the answer.

Maybe sometimes,

the answer is

let it be.

~E. Grace~

When to let it be, and when to let it go, in 2026

There are some worries and wonderings we’re just not meant to carry: hate, shame, pettiness, the endless comparison to our Others. G’head. Let those go. Just open your hands, picture the thing that is keeping you stuck and holding you down, and invite the winds of life to do what you cannot. To blow that clear off your unclenched palms.

But some things won’t be let go of. They are things that simply are: a grief that has marked us for life. An illness that is chronic and forever. A child that is wandering. A parent that is abusive in his brokenness. The weather, the financial markets, the inevitability of daylight savings time. Sometimes life is just happening to us. No amount of resolve or positivity is going to alter the thing that simply Is. G’head. Sit with these. Just open your hands, picture the thing that is happening to you, over which you just have zero control at all, and invite the winds of life to do what you cannot. To encircle that “Let it be” constant in a comfort and courage all its own.

Happy New Year from our DAC Team to you and yours! Is 2026 a year of New Year’s Resolutions? We may be able to help.

This is do-able!

For a solid article on how to get those resolutions off on the right track this year, check out, Achievement unlocked! Use science to keep your new year’s resolutions. (Linda Geddes, December 6 2015, from The Guardian)

“…for behaviour change to occur, people must have the capability, opportunity and motivation to make it happen. Often people aren’t making resolutions for the right reasons, says Gardner: “They think that because it’s new year, they’re obliged to say they’ll change their behaviour. But once they face the reality of what they’re doing, they give up because they aren’t motivated enough in the first place.”

The article goes on to note,

“Say 20(25) is the year you plan to write a novel. First, you need to identify good situations in which to initiate your writing: it could be whenever your partner goes out to their gym class. But you also need to plan what to do if your best friend calls and suggests you meet for lunch instead. Gollwitzer calls this “if-then planning”: if X happens, then I will do Y.

If this, then that

…people are two to three times more likely to achieve their goals if they use an “if-then” plan; this goes for all sorts of goals, from weight loss to using more public transport.”

Your new year’s resolutions may just the thing to tackle some questionable habits that need a little re-working. If that’s the case, here’s to your strong success in 2017!

And in defense of a little peace of mind…

On the other hand,

“…Sometimes there’s a very good reason why we’re not slimmer/fitter/richer/nicer than we already are. And that’s because, if we’re completely honest with ourselves, we don’t really need to be.“

What if we begin this new year with an aim to be kind and curious? Kind and curious about our own peculiarities. Curious and kind about the differences between ourselves and each other!

Perhaps we can set to a year of being a little awe-struck by the rarities we find in the world. Nothing will disarm judgment and hatred more quickly than wonder and curiosity.

Let your own instinctive generosity be your guide

Just this past Christmas season we had some of the best 5 star feedback! It was a reminder of what inspires us to do the work we do year after year. A donor for the Alzheimer Society wrote,

“‘Donate a Car Canada’! What a wonderful collection of folks to deal with – a high class institution. The whole transaction was, without a doubt…one of those nice experiences in life without stress or drama. The car was donated to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Very much appreciated all the terrific people I interacted with, too…Thank you so much!!!”

With over 80,000 Canadian charities working to serve the people of Canada year ’round, starting 2026 with a resolve to help them keep helping is generous indeed!

Vehicle donation is just one way to do that, of course. As the calendar flips to 2026, check in with the charities you love and sow seeds of support, goodness, and lovingkindness. If we do anything self-helpy in the year ahead, let it be a united resolve to simply do a little good, a little at a time.

Whatever your situation, may 2026 be a year of peace, good health, and much love for you and yours!

This Christmas season is part minimalist-cozy and part holly jolly! Here’s how to find the cozy…

Christmas cozy when times are crazy

I don’t know about you, but I’m approaching Christmas from a softer angle this year. My pocket book is a bit moth ball-y. There are rabid inflation issues from here to Nova Scotia. Add to that a little global crisis and too-much-drama. I’m feeling the need to cozy in and get curious about what the season might actually be about in 2025!

Perhaps you can relate?

Have you heard of the Danish and Norwegian practice of Hygge? This comforting way of life is pronounced “hoo-gah,” and I think I’m in love with it all!

10 steps to being Hygge homey

By definition, Hygge is, “invoking or fostering a sense of coziness, contentment, and well-being.” In short, it is “comfort, coziness.”

How do we create that in our homes? At work? In relationships? Gently and creatively! We begin by fostering

Atmosphere – create the vibe that feels peaceful for you

Presence – be here now

Pleasure – treats, treats, treats!

Equality – care, share, give

Gratitude – settle in with thanks for what already is

Harmony – we’re all in this together

Comfort – relax

Truce – let the controversial topics go for a bit

Togetherness – share story and memory

Shelter – home, shared space, and even safe space for being alone

Sharing the Hygge

We are so lucky here at Donate a Car Canada! Every day we interact with generous Canadians. Most of vehicle donors are not people with heaps of resources to simply give away. And yet, day after day, year after year, they keep giving!

There are few things that really (really!) matter when we get right down to it. Caring for our selves, and caring for our Others is the way of comfort and connection.

As the month of December unfolds, may you and yours be enveloped in warmth, provision, and connection. May you have enough. Where your joy meets the world’s need, may you find ways to share. Ways to share that do as much for your own wellbeing as they do for the ones you are caring about!

Not quite ready to donate? Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter! There you will get an overall feel for how we care for each other and our charities. This is a caring community, here to serve you.
