What does it take to donate a fleet of company vehicles? One Saskatchewan company can tell you — they’ve done it three — Wait! Make that four (4!) years running! And that is just the beginning of their neighbourly way of being…

Saskatchewan company, K+S Potash Canada, puts people first

We first “met” K+S Potash in September of 2023. They arrived on the site with a single F-150 and a question: Would it be possible to donate several decomissioned company vehicles from their Bethune, Saskatchewan location? Eighteen (18!) trucks later and we can heartily say, Yes! It most certainly is possible.

The company asked themselves,

“What does it mean to be a good neighbour?”

And they came up with a robust answer: Being a good neighbor means considering others.

They strive to be respectful, aware, and approachable. They aim to do the right thing, and to always keep in mind the full lifecycle of our projects. Being a good neighbour is a vital part of they are, helping them operate in Saskatchewan for years to come.

They demonstrate their commitment to being a good neighbour through community involvement and environmental care. Building and maintaining meaningful relationships with local Indigenous Peoples and communities in the regions were K+S Potash Canada operates is key to this commitment, too.

Building Youth in Saskatchewan and British Columbia

You’ll want to visit the K+S Potash Canada Face Book page! But before you do, we just want to circle back to this company’s vehicle donation generosity.

After our first encounter with K+S and their Ford F-150 in September of 2023, the rolled into our program in a big way just two months later. That November they donated eight (8!) more trucks. One of the perks of vehicle donation here is that you can choose ANY Canadian charity to receive your gift. This company’s charity-of-choice? Diabetes Canada!

Flip the calendar forward: In early October 2024 we received another ten (yes…10!) truck donations…for the same charity!

But back to youth in Saskatchewan and BC. If you visit the company’s Face Book page you’ll see that this kind of giving is nothing new for them. They have their own initiative called Youth+Us with an aim to “build a healthier happier future” for youth. They are committed to empowering the young people in our communities and create lasting, meaningful change.

Then came 2025 – K+S Potash wasn’t done giving yet!

We shouldn’t have been surprised, then, when this money-where-their-heart-is company rolled back on in with another multi-vehicle donation! Creating their own Christmas miracle, they started with a Dodge Ram. And ended with a Dodge Ram. And, just for good measure, included three more Dodge Rams in between. That’s right! They donated another five 5 company trucks.

Their chosen charity for 2025? The Moose Jaw and District Food Bank.

Repeat fleet for a very Happy New Year 2026

Starting 2026 off right meant donating yet another five Dodge Ram 1500 fleet for the food bank. This is a company that just keeps on giving!

Inspired to extend a little neighbourly generosity of your own?

K+S Potash Canada is one company that has their community foot forward in Saskatchewan and BC. If you as an individual, or as a company representative, are inspired to follow their example, there are so many creative ways to do so!

For our part, we are at the ready to support you in vehicle donation. If you are donating more than one vehicle at a time you can even choose different charities for each one. The process is kept simple and quick. The tow (or tows) is/are always free. Furthermore, you, or your company, will receive a tax receipt issued to the registered vehicle owner.

How much is that tax receipt?

Donate A Car Canada has three possible sale procedures that maximize the donation outcome for our charities:

First, your vehicle may be selected for recycling. The donation amount for a scrap-ready vehicle is between $30.00 – $800.00. This is dependent on the area in which it is donated, and what the market will pay for the year/make/model. The amount that applies to you will always be clearly communicated and you will be given the option to cancel if you feel it does not reflect the value of your vehicle. And remember: the tow is always free!

Second, your vehicle may be considered for sale at auction, and several factors go into qualifying a vehicle for this. These include, but are not limited to, drivability, type of mechanical problems (if any), age, damage, visual appearance, and mileage.

Vehicles sold at auction are sold ‘as is’ and ‘unreserved’. They are sold to the highest bidder, as a full and final sale. Outcome at auction varies. As such, we cannot guarantee a specific sale result.

What if the vehicle isn’t quite scrap ready, but it’s running too rough for auction?

Our third option applies to vehicles that may not perform well at auction, but that are not ready for recycling. Our re-sale/recycle process will see our agent pick up your vehicle for free. Once they have it on their yard they will assess it to determine if it should be re-sold or recycled. This will be based on the current market. If they see re-sale value in your vehicle, they will advertise it to their own buyer base, selling it as-is, to the highest bidder. They will send us the net proceeds from the re-sale price. If they determine that they will not find interested buyers, they will recycle your car.

After the sale of your vehicle and our accounting process is complete, we will email stating the amount of your donation. You will then receive a tax receipt via CanadaHelps within one (1) week of the charity receiving your gift through us.

Our team of funny, friendly, efficient humans are on standy-by to work with you or your company on this! We have the experience and expertise to move things along in a hassle-free manner. And you’ll feel 100% good about it every step of the way. Not forgetting your chosen charity, of course! They will benefit most of all.

What comes next? Just fill in an online donation form, or give us a call at 1-877-250-4904. We can’t wait to work with you and your company!

Saturn donors? We’ve got a few!

Saturn stands out in triple car donation

Connor’s first car donation was actually not a Saturn. In honour of a family member with Diabetes, he donated a Toyota to a charity supporting people affected by the illness. “Donating to Diabetes Canada seemed like a good idea at the time; they’d been around for a long time and they do good work.” His recycle-ready Toyota contributed to the work of informing, researching, educating, and advocacy! What an impact for those touched by this far-reaching disease.

Then, along came Chester, a lovable shepherd mix. Chester is Connor’s rescue dog and he brings a lot of joy and tenderness to his new master.

Chester’s adoption was facilitated through the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew.

We give to the things that have our hearts, and Chester plus Alberta Animal Rescue Crew have Connor’s! This is where our first Saturn comes in: Connor donated the proceeds from two separate vehicles to the animal rescue that united him and his beloved pooch. How did that add up, you may ask? His vehicle donations resulted in over $1300.00 to the charity! A modest outcome of around $200.00 was earned for his ’01 Saturn when her transmission gave out. Then, the donation was beefed up with just over $1000.00 coming from the auctioning of his SUV.

Calgary donor’s Saturn | From bust to boom

Fast forward to this summer when we heard a common distress call,

“I had my Saturn in to (the shop) today for an oil change and a diagnostic for my Service Engine Soon light that recently appeared on my dashboard. Upon their diagnostic check, there was too much work that needed to be done to get the car safe to drive.

When I went to pick up my car this afternoon, after paying $420.00 for their services, I went to exit the parking lot, and my back rear brake line burst. I was able to pull out of the lot and immediately turned into what turned out to be shop’s detailing lot. I coasted into a parking spot.”

Now, our caller was in a pickle: the spot she’d coasted to was in a shared lot with a hotel. The Saturn needed a pick up. And fast!

“I would like to know if you can tow my car either tomorrow or the day after? You can give me a phone call at home, or send an email.”

Request received and responded to: Absolutely! The outstanding agents that serve in the Calgary area were right on it. Donor served. Charity of choice set to receive the gift!

And how did it all go for the donor?

“Your staff is amazing. Keep up the great work you do.”

~ C.K.

Saturn picked up two ways in Ontario

Whether your Saturn is re-sold or recycled, you can be sure of making a helpful impact for the charity you love.

One Distress Centre Ottawa donor in Ontario wrote,

It is suitable for Recycling. There are new parts on it, 1 year old winter tires. It is too old to invest in a new exhaust system. The car has not been on the road for a year.

No problem! Running, or not, donated cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans add up to big donation dollars for charities like the DCO. Just like that, the Distress Centre donor was set up with their free tow. They will receive their tax receipt in the next week, or two.

An Ontario Saturn Vue donor offered some reassuring feedback,

“The whole operation was painless.”

I mean, sometimes painless is all we need, right? You can expect speedy, cheerful, free donor support whenever you gift a charity with your vehicle. We sure do hope that will be painless every time!

Singing Saturn donors praises

Honour a beloved pet. Help the cause you care about. Retire an old cars; donate a vehicle that can be re-sold. The tried-and-true process here will serve you, whatever your motivation.

Connor’s generosity of spirit and his quiet diligence in doing good are reflected in vehicle donations in every province in Canada!

Our Saturn donors will keep right on doing the good that they do. We will be right here, ready to serve them with gratitude! Moreover, we will keep the process simple, quick, and free for them.

Further to that, there is no cost to the charity you champion. Any and all of them will be able to continue the work(s) that only they can do. As our supervisor, Kirsten, said just this week, “We’re just here to help keep the wheels on the bus and the lights on!”

Help your caring cause today!

In just a few easy steps you’ll be on your way to turning your Saturn (running, or not) into donation dollars. First, click the button below. In a few minutes we’ll have your donation form. Next, you’ll get a call to set up your free tow. Then? You just sit back and wait for your tax receipt!

We look forward to serving you!

Do you have a Chevy donation on your mind? Did you know you can donate to any charity in Canada? It’s so easy…and so free!

Oh, the difference a Chevy donation can make!

Who is on the block for Chevy donations as I write this up? The Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Diabetes Canada, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS). Wait! There are more — so many more. Our Place Society, Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, and Covenant House Toronto have cars waiting for disbursal, too!

And these are just seven of our current Chevy donors and only a handful of the charities that they will help. This is the beautiful giving impact of Canadian donors! And it is the heartwork of Donate a Car Canada.

One of the everyday joys of working at Donate a Car Canada is the scope of the charities we serve. There is a charity for every cause you can imagine! ‘Love donkeys? There’s a charity for that. Are you all about hand bells? We ring it in for that cause, too. Community, cancer, kids, and critters: your car donation can go to any charity you love!

How much can your Chevy earn for your cause?

Every donated car (Chevrolet, or other) is assessed, as-is, case-by-case. We and our charities have been at this for over two decades. We roll with current markets: when scrap metal is valued strongly, it’s a big win for charity!

Have you noticed the strength of the re-sale market for cars right now? It is a Goodness for your charity. When we recycle a car, truck, van, or SUV the donation outcome varies. This is most strongly affected by your location. In many provinces we are currently seeing donation outcomes for around $300.00 – $500.00 on scrap cars!

However, not all donated vehicles are ready for recycling. Whenever we can, we assign your donated car to re-sale. This happens through auction and re-sale agents across the country. They put donated vehicles up for sale as-is, to the highest bidder. ‘Highest bid takes the car. Your charity? They receive the net proceeds.

How easy is this 3 step process?

Donating your vehicle is really just so easy! Fill in our online form (you’re one click away). Wait for a call from your supporting tow agent (the tow is always free!). Watch for your tax receipt.

We take care of every detail along the way. You will receive emails outlining important information so that you have a robust paper trail for your donation, should you wish it.

You can choose any charity in Canada! Your charity of choice will never be charged any fees. There is no extra work for them. Their role in all of this? To keep doing the caring, building, researching, nurturing work that is their mission. And then to accept the monetary-gift outcome of your donated car, of course. We are here to serve them by serving you!

Ready to roll your unused or unwanted vehicle in the direction for the cause you love? You’re a few minutes away from joining this week’s Chevy donors in doing so much good!

You are also invited to contact and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter! From there, you’ll be able to keep up to date on our program as well as see posts that showcase our amazing donors and charities across the country!

Dodge Caravan donors are some of our most prolific car donors in Canada!

You won’t believe how many happy minivan donors we’ve served in just one month!

Dusty the Dodge Caravan is grand indeed

We love processing minivans for your charity’s vehicle donation program! Here’s what one Grand Caravan donor had to say,

“Our 1997 Dodge Caravan was just picked up by Steven, a tow truck operator
working for the Armstrong agent. The removal went very smoothly.

This whole process has gone smoothly from the beginning. All of you at
Donate A Car Canada have been friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The way
your email instructions are designed are clear and easy to follow.

Thank you so very much for your attention to detail and email follow ups.
We name all the vehicles we’ve ever owned and “Dusty” has carried loads of
Girl Guides on camping trips over the years. It’s been a bit emotional
today saying goodbye to this old safe transporter friend. Thank you for
making it easier for me.” ~ D & K. K. ~

Minivan donation helps Transforming Faces

Dusty’s donors’ charity of choice was Transforming Faces. TF champions kiddos around the world. They believe, “Children born with cleft lip and palate deserve to be supported every step of the way. Comprehensive cleft care makes that possible.”

So many more minivans, so many more charities!

Dusty and his legacy of giving is storied. We share in the gratitude and affection donors have for their long-serving cars, trucks, and vans. These minivans are much more than metal and rubber. They can feel like members of the family!

Many times our donors keep their donation stories close. We aren’t privvy to the deeply personal reasons a charity has been chosen. The reasons for donating are as varied as the donors themselves! So are the charities.

Check out our Dodge Caravan donations from just this past month. Donors gave their 1992’s and their 2002’s…and many more! Below is a quick list to give you an idea of how your charity of choice might be helped. You can find detailed charity mission statements and locations on our charities page if you need a hand making your own choice.

Alberta Cancer Foundation: $120.00 (This one was a remote area Alberta pick-up.)

Canadian Cancer Society received three gifts for $250.00, $3791.25, and $500.00.

Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor-Essex County: $500.00

Covenant House Vancouver was gifted two Caravans totaling $300.00 and $3140.25!

Diabetes Canada received a scrap-ready donation in BC.

Health Sciences Centre Foundation: $250.00

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada: $300.00

Make-A-Wish Canada: $450.00

People Ensuring Animal Care Exists (P.E.A.C.E) received a scrap-ready donation.

Peterborough Humane Society: $500.00

Pregnancy Care Centre: $310.00

SPCA Newfoundland & Labrador – St. John’s Branch: $100.00

Company minivans help 5 more charities

Canadian companies are generous in their fleet donations. Our Dodge Caravan donors aided these five charities with donations adding up to over $2000.00 on scrap-ready company vans!

Heart and Stroke Foundation

Kidney Cancer Canada

Kids with Cancer Society of Northern Alberta

Rotary Flames House (Alberta Children’s Hospital)

Sudbury Manitoulin Children’s Foundation

Ready to roll with your own donation?

You’ll see from our social media and blog posts that your charity may have a donation program supported by us here at Donate a Car Canada. Donate with very high expectations! You will experience excellent donor care. We will seek the highest dollar return for the charity of choice. Furthermore, your charity does not pay for this service in any way.

We’re just a click or a call (1-877-250-4904) away!

‘Ford Taurus donor gives from the heart. Learn more about her cause and the car she loves!

Ford Taurus donors help from coast-to-coast

At Donate a Car Canada we see four-wheeled wonders donated across the country! The trusty Ford Taurus factors into that goodness every month. At the time of this writing, we have three Taurus donations in the works. From Kapuskasing, Ontario to Nanaimo, BC, our agents are working for the charities you love. They’re turning recycle-ready cars into cash for heartworks. ‘Your car, truck, van, SUV, or motorcycle not ready for recycling? No problem! They’ll re-sell it in their hard-working efforts to get the best money possible for your cause.

The Knowledge Network, The Ottawa Humane Society, and Diabetes Canada are all on deck for December month-end gifts from Ford Taurus donors!

First car, first car donation

One of our Ford Taurus donors had a special experience at the age of sixty-one. It wasn’t what you might expect! ‘Not an empty nest, or a grandbaby. And not a first-time Snow Bird trek. No, when Maggie (not her real name) was enjoying her sixty-first trip around the sun, she bought her first car.

That car was – you guessed it – a Ford Taurus. Because it was the first time she had ever purchased a vehicle, she named the car, “Firsty”!

When Firsty had given all she had on Maggie’s behalf, this loving vehicle owner decided to extend the Ford’s legacy. Instead of selling the car privately, she donated it!

It was assumed that the car would be recycled. By that time Firsty had been in an accident and was a little worse-for-wear. Our agent was in no hurry to scrap the car. He opted to put the car up for offers to his unique buyer base.

“This is a surprise to me,” Maggie commented upon learning that we were working to get a bigger money return for her charity. She had no idea it would be possible to see a higher-than-recycle donation outcome for her chosen charity. She assumed Firsty was done-in and ready for the scrap heap.

Not so! That little Taurus found a new owner!

Diabetes Canada, the chosen recipient

Firsty the Ford Taurus sold to the highest bidder. The result? A donation of just under $600.00 for Diabetes Canada — Maggies’ charity of choice. The mission this little car is supporting: to lead the fight against diabetes by helping people with diabetes live healthy lives while working to find a cure.

Your Taurus, your choice

Donate a Car Canada is partnered with hundreds of Canadian charities. This service is at no cost to the charity, with the exception of the time it takes for them to issue your tax receipt. If you donate your vehicle for charities like The Knowledge Network, The Ottawa Humane Society, and Diabetes Canada you can trust that we and our agents are doing all we can to see the best dollar outcomes possible for them.

If you’re supporting a charity closer to your own home, it’s possible we’re already serving them. On the other hand, they may not realize this option is available for raising funds. let them know! We’ll get them on board in no time with a vehicle donation process specific to their programming.

Maggie wanted Firsty’s legacy to benefit Diabetes Canada. If you’re ready to part with an unused/unwanted vehicle, we can share that Goodness with whomever you wish. You’re just a click and a ten minute donation form (or phone call) away!

Diabetes Canada has car donors from coast-to-coast. From St. John’s to Black Creek, your vehicle donation makes a difference. And we can help!

Hondas, Toyotas, & Chevys – Oh my!

A Dakota, and Impreza, and an Altima are all waiting for buyers at auction this month. Recycle-ready donations of all sorts will wrap up later in August as well. This is because Canadians across the country give where their hearts are.

Happily, your choice is at the heart of our program. Every donor has carefully chosen the car they drive. Moreover, each donor has their own passionate cause. For many of our givers, Diabetes Canada is a cause that lands close to home.

Why Diabetes Canada

The DC website helps us understand just what this sickness is:

“Diabetes is a disease in which your body either can’t make insulin or can’t properly use the insulin it makes. Insulin is a hormone made by your pancreas.

Insulin’s job is to regulate the amount of sugar in the blood. Blood sugar must be carefully regulated to ensure that the body works properly. Too much blood sugar can cause damage to organs, blood vessels, and nerves. Your body also needs insulin in order to use sugar for energy.

Eleven million Canadians are living with some type of this sickness. Chances are, this affects you or someone you know.

Types of diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is the most common diagnosis, followed by type 1 diabetes. Gestational diabetes occurs during pregnancy, and is usually temporary. In addition, prediabetes is another diagnosis that indicates an higher risk of developing diabetes.

Type 1

Type 1 is an autoimmune disease. It is also known as insulin-dependent diabetes. People with type 1 aren’t able to produce their own insulin (and can’t regulate their blood sugar). This is because their body is attacking the pancreas. Roughly 10 per cent of people living with diabetes have type 1.

Type 1 diabetes generally develops in childhood or adolescence, but can also develop in adulthood. People with type 1 need to inject insulin or use an insulin pump. This ensures their bodies have the right amount of insulin.

Type 2

People with type 2 diabetes can’t properly use the insulin made by their bodies. Or their bodies aren’t able to produce enough insulin. Roughly 90 per cent of people living with diabetes have type 2.

Type 2 diabetes is most commonly developed in adulthood, although it can also occur in childhood. Type 2 can sometimes be managed with healthy eating and regular exercise alone. It may also require medications or insulin therapy.”
