This is a very unusual experience for us here! We are a happy team of folks who are working on behalf of donors and charities behind the scenes. Donate a vehicle for your hospital foundation

2021 brought in some sturdy gifts for children’s hospitals, in particular. In fact, we even had a sailboat donation that brought in over $5,000.00 for the BC Children’s Hospital!

An ’05 Audi landed The Montreal Children’s Hospital a gift of over $2,000.00. A Honda Pilot that we thought might be recycle-ready sold for over $2,700.00 for the Stollery! Furthermore, Jim Pattison’s CHF, a Saskatchewan charity, was the pick of donors across all Western provinces.

Donating to your local hospital in this way is easy. A form takes less than 10 minutes to fill out. We can also take your information over the phone during business hours.

We are heart-and-soul a Canadian company. Moreover, you can choose any Canadian charity to accept your gift.

Donate a Car Canada’s does all of the leg work and accounting for your hospital. Our cheerful agents will either recycle or re-sell your vehicle. Then, your charity will receive the net proceeds of the sale!

How much really goes to my local foundation?

Not only that, your hospital charity of choice does not pay for this giving option. When you donate a car, all of the work is done for your foundation. They simply wait for the eTransfer to arrive at the end of each month!

Every car, truck, van, SUV, and motorcycle is reviewed on its own merits. There are fees involved on the processing end, of course. Our tow guys need to put gas in the tow truck tank. They also need to keep their shops heated. We do need to keep our own home offices humming, too. We’ve been a work from home company since we opened up over 10 years ago (long before it became a COVID necessity). This has always been a cost-saver. This family-owned co. knows how to stretch pennies. Charities receive every dollar possible from every donation!

Stollery Children’s Hospital luv

Our more well-known charities pack quite a punch in inspiring donations. It’s not unusual for the most broadly known to draw five or six digit figures over the course of a year. This past year, the Stollery Children’s Hospital was one of those charities!

That monetary impact is the direct result of vehicle donors. Car by car, and truck by truck, donation dollars add up.

But there’s more!

We work with auction houses in many of Canada’s major centers. Any time we receive a vehicle that meets our auction criteria, we have the vehicle picked-up and sold, as-is to the highest bidder. The net proceeds from the sale go to the donor’s charity of choice. This can result in a donation outcome of thousands of dollars for the cause!

Just this past month we received a call from one of our supporting auction houses. Their sub-contracted towing company made arrangements with our vehicle donor to get a car picked up and hauled in for re-sale.

Business as usual, right? So we thought…until we learned the rest of the story:

The subcontracted towing agent learned that the donor was giving the car on behalf of the Stollery Children’s Hospital. That struck a cord. The driver went an extra mile! Tows are free to our donors, of course. But our agents do need to get paid out from the value of the vehicle. ‘Nothing out of the donor’s pocket, but a modest amount is removed from the final outcome. This driver wanted to be sure that every penny went right to the SCHF. He provided his services for free!

Why this matters

Small gestures like that of this tow driver have important, incremental effect. Every donation dollar counts.

Some time ago, our then-contact at the SCHF sent us this gentle reminder of how these donation dollars impact real children:

“Madelyn was born with a serious heart problem. At only seven days old, doctors at the Stollery performed open-heart surgery on her tiny heart. Her heart was just the size of a walnut. Now two years old, Madelyn has survived two heart surgeries and is awaiting her third. She continues to grow and hit milestone after milestone at home.

Thank you for helping the Stollery care for kids like Madelyn – it’s incredibly inspiring to know that you continue to think of others during what has proven to be a difficult time for us all. Because of you, we can make sure the Stollery’s front-line caregivers have the support and specialized equipment they need to continue delivering urgent, critical care
to those who need it most. Together, we can give kids from backyards across Alberta and beyond the best chance to live a long and healthy life.”

How much do Cadillac donations raise?

Donated vehicles are not all valued equally. The year, make, model, and condition of a car or truck affects the donation outcome. The region of Canada from which is is donated also affects the dollar amount. This flexibility in process and region means we’re not restricted to one set donation outcome!

Cadillac donations often raise donations over $500.00. If the car is recycled, the donation outcome can be anywhere up to $300.00, depending on the factors noted above.

Who (actually) gets my gift money?

A quick glance at our donations since August shows just how diverse Canadian Cadillac donations are!

Each vehicle donor is provided clear communication about how their donated car or truck will be processed. The full net proceeds of their vehicle donation are forwarded to their charity of choice.

There is no trickery here. Donate a Car Canada is a small Alberta business. For that reason, we do take fees for each donated vehicle. Our company operates on a lean budget. Morever, we have functioned as a work-from-home business long before that was a COVID necessity. It saves on many costs to do so. For this reason, and others, we keep our own costs to a minimum.

Is it really worth it for me?

The charities noted above received gifts of between $85.00 up to over $9,000.00 from the cars donated here. That is, the Cadillac donations resulted in $85.00, $500.00+, $800.00+, $9,000.00+, etc.

As you consider the cause you care about, you can appreciate that these dollars add up quickly! Because we offer both recycling and re-sale, Donate a Car Canada is not restricted to a set donation outcome. Your Cadillac is uniquely valued at the time of donation. This is managed by agents well-versed in the current market. These agents have regional buyer bases. Furthermore, they have ‘vested interest in seeing strong donation outcomes.
