Giving is the heartbeat of Donate a Car Canada. It’s our mission, our secret agenda, and our weekly goal. We’re here for one reason: to serve Canadian donors and their chosen Canadian charities. We do that through the unique medium of vehicle donation.

Giving starts with the heart…

We give where we care (and, sometimes, where we hurt). I didn’t think much about donating to cancer charities until my Grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer and my Grandpa with cancer in his intestines. Diabetes is a cause that tugs at me because I have many dear friends who wrestle with it daily. Maybe you relate? The charity that rescues, supports, warms, and educates in the places (and with the people and creatures) that you love is probably the one that you readily share your hard-earned resources with.

…and giving works through our hands

Those resources come at a cost to you. The work of your back and brain and hands makes it possible for you to have enough to live, and enough to share — even if it puts the financial squeeze on in another area of your life. There’s something about this that is actually rich with gratitude. As Thanksgiving has arrived, we find ourselves considering how often “thanks” and generosity go hand-in-hand.

What does Donate a Car Canada do with your giving?

Our role here at DACC is to facilitate the pick-up and re-sale, or recycling, of your donation-ready vehicle. Every vehicle counts! Car or truck, SUV or motorcycle. Seasonally, we can even do some motorhomes and boats! We have supporting agents that manage the free transport. These capable, market-savvy companies then recycle the vehicle, or put it up for re-sale. The net proceeds go to your chosen charity. That’s right! You choose the charity. ANY registered charity in Canada can be chosen!

How does the giving add up?

Donations like yours add up and add up and add UP.

It is not a stretch to say that we see donations upwards of $9,000.00 and $29,000.00. Children’s hospitals and local SPCAs can draw many vehicle donors each month. Other organizations that captured hearts in the summer months are those reaching out to children and marginalized women. If vehicles are recycled (instead of re-sold) donations average around $400.00. And our donors who are mindfully caring for the planet contributed to many charities, allowing us to send some of those smaller amounts across the board.

One Habitat for Humanity supporter donated their Toyota Camry and wrote, “Thank you, We loved our experience with Donate a Car. When I called to ask questions, someone spoke to me promptly, and they were really kind and helpful. I liked the email that I got, asking if I did still want to donate, since I’d started the form, but not finished it online. The garage that came and picked up the car was great to talk to, and the driver who picked it up was very sweet. We’d absolutely recommend this to our friends.”

Are you ready to make a difference?

You may be ready to move an old(er) or unused car off of your driveway? Maybe you’re tired of paying storage fees on a vehicle that just isn’t getting the attention you expected it would? We can help! First, fill in an online donation form. Click the red button below and in less than 10 minutes you will be all set to hear your next steps. Then, wait for your agent’s phone call. They will arrange your free pick-up/tow at a time that suits you well. Finally, watch your inbox for your tax receipt. Simple. Quick. Free — for donor and charity alike!

We look forward to serving you and your charity in the months ahead!

April is Help Hope Bloom month at the Canadian Cancer Society. One expression of our country’s resilience, focus, and compassion. How are you building your community, your family, and your own state of well-being this Spring?

Growing hope and sustaining kindness one choice at a time

How do you keep your attention focused on hope and human kindness when surrounded by instability and uncertainty? Have you noticed that you have a whole lot of agency in some parts of your life? You may be experiencing considerable lack of control in others?

What are your go-to activities, practices, and hobbies you engage in when you need to bolster your (or your loved ones) outlook?

“Hope” is the thing with feathers

~ Emily Dickinson

“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –

Sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –

I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.

The Canadian charities keeping hope alive

Charities like the Canadian Cancer Society help hope bloom! You likely already know that April is Daffodil Month! Every year, the CCS shares their brightly-coloured floral campaign inviting us to give, volunteer, and support folks living with cancer.

While not every charity is literally bloomin’ flowers, thousands (and we do mean 1,000’s!) of helping organizations are fostering resilience and determination.

They do this by building houses, filling fridges, fostering literacy, providing shelter, and caring for critters of every shape and size. ‘Need a quick dopamine zot? Spend a few hours volunteering at your local animal shelter. Join a walk-run-ride for your charity of choice! Engage your local theatre. Experience the robust earth caring efforts of your local conservation group.

Is anything so effective in bolstering faith in humanity than participating in helping and community?

Here’s where to start looking for inspiration

Remember those thousands of helping organizations? There is nothing quite so inspiring as exploring site after site showcasing the remarkable groups whose mission it is to just make the world a better place!

Have you heard of CanadaHelps? This is the go-to site to begin hope building. You might start your who’s-who of human kindness search with their list of 86,000 charities. You read that right! Or, get behind their “Cause Funds”. These are clusters of groups rallying behind similar causes. Join a local community of like-minded humans compassionately working toward very good ends! Or, if your wish is to make a difference related to an urgent, crisis situation, they have a link for that, too!

So, begin your exploration today. Perhaps there will be hope and motivation to be found in previously unexplored places.

Car donation, Canada, and your vehicle. Simple, quick, and free! Are you ready for your hard working Toyota or limping-along Pathfinder to go for her last trip? Maybe you’re ready to just see her taken off the drive-way? Or, maybe you’re not quite ready to see her crushed and left in a heap at the scrap yard.

Car Donation | Canada | Every province!

Car donation Canada-wide is an easy and generous option for moving your unused or unwanted vehicle quickly — and for free! For detailed information on what your options are in your province, you can call us at 1-877-250-4904. Exploring our website a little more will help, too!

Some of us are not ready for our donated vehicles to be taken off the road. For one of our donors it was the sounds their ol’ Dodge van made. The engine’s hum let his dog know that his master was driving up onto the yard. That van made many trips to chemo. After beating Cancer not once, but twice, our donor had a sense of gratitude to those four wheels. The sturdy metal got him through some tough times. His van donation resulted in a gift to a charity that had walked alongside him right through it all. Kidney Cancer Canada was a happy recipient!

So, it’s personal…even emotional

Do you relate to our Dodge donor? When our cars are ready for their last trek, a drop-off at the scrap yard might not do. We want to see our trusty vehicle continue to serve someone, somehow. It may have become too costly or too cumbersome a thing for our own circumstance. Yet, we can’t bear to see it just get carted off without a little added dignity. We want to see it receive its due respect.

Honouring loved ones is another way of making a gift count. A Toronto donor didn’t beat around the bush, “Give it to Lung Cancer – the disease killed my wife.” These cryptic messages can be tough to read (our hearts break a little with every one), but they speak happy volumes when we’re able to send off a gift to the Lung Association after the successful processing of a Chrysler Intrepid sale!

Who can benefit from car donation Canada-wide?

Any charity in Canada can receive a vehicle donation through our program. We tackle all of the work for them; your donation dollars go to the cause you care about. This is free for your charity, and free for you! Charities are not left processing cars or working on re-sale paperwork.

First, you donate your vehicle. Then, you wait for the phone to ring. Our agent will make free tow arrangements that suit you best. After that, you simply wait for your tax receipt. The charity? They simply wait for your gift to come in the mail.

So, for your part, the tow is free. Not only that, we will make all arrangements (for both recycling and re-sale) on your behalf. And for the charity, there is no time or money taken from their important work.

How much is my car donation tax receipt?

Donation outcomes vary from province to province, and even city to city. This is because all donated vehicles are assessed on their own merits. We have seen re-sale donation outcomes as high as $66,850.00! In some parts of Canada the scrap car donation outcome can feel a little lean. In some cities we see outcomes as high as $600.00 for a scrap-ready car!

Tax receipt amounts — the breakdown

Donate A Car Canada has three possible sale procedures that maximize the donation outcome for our charities. Here’s how we work:

Many donated cars are ready for the recycle process: This applies to vehicles that are ready to come off the road. The donation amount for each varies. Dollar outcomes depend on your donation location, and what the market will pay for the year/make/model. The vehicle will be picked up by our towing agent at no cost to you.

We always assess: is a vehicle suitable for sale at auction? Several factors go into qualifying a vehicle for auction. Drivability, mechanical condition, age, visual appearance, and mileage all impact this decision.
Vehicles sold at auction are sold ‘as is’ and ‘unreserved’. Sales are to the highest bidder, as a full and final sale. Outcome at auction varies. As such, we cannot guarantee a specific sale result.

Our third option applies to vehicles that may not perform well at auction, but that are not ready for recycling. Our re-sale/recycle process begins with the free tow. Once our agent has it on their yard they will assess your vehicle to determine if it should be recycled or re-sold. This will be based on the current market. If they determine that they will not find interested buyers, they will recycle your car. If they see re-sale value in your vehicle, they will advertise it to their own buyer base. They will send us the net proceeds from the re-sale price.

Your car donation, your cause

Sometimes, a quick trip to the junkyard is all we’re looking for, but sometimes the thought of the scrapper being the next stop just doesn’t seem a fitting end for our faithful old vehicle. We are here to carefully tend your donated car, truck, van, SUV, or motorcycle. Like you, we want to see the highest return possible for your charity of choice. Re-sale is going to be our first hope! With thousands of charities to choose from, you can feel sure of the ongoing and helpful impact of your donation-ready car or truck. Ready to Donate Now?

If you’re feeling the frustration of not getting your letter off to Santa this year, you are not alone! The Canada Post strike is impacting Canadians in many ways — not least of all are our thousands of hard-working, compassionate charities. Why does this matter? Read on…

Canada Post strike taking the tinsel out of typical seasonal support

There’s something about the magic of the Christmas season. It opens us up to giving just a stitch more generously than we do at other times of year. This season is of great significance to charities from Coast to Coast. Holiday donations account for a substantial percentage of their yearly budgets. The Canada Post strike is rippling out to cause a slow down in this critical stream of funding.

Would you like to be sure that your helping funds get into the hands of the causes you care about? Consider getting creative!

How to give when Christmas mail is on pause

The Canada Post strike brings the value of this service right to the forefront. During the Christmas season, many folks choose to mail in their annual donation. This ensures their beloved charity is well supported, and it also allows for a last-minute tax receipt, year end.

The mail being on pause does not mean that the needs being met by charities across Canada are on pause. Food and housing security are at risk for so many of our neighbours. These are tough times, and food banks, shelters, and community resources are being uniquely taxed.

If you’re unsure of how to support relief organizations, animal rescues, wildlife shelters, or your faith community, reach out. Contact the charity directly through their email contact. Call them to ask how to best build their resources base.

Some folks are uncomfortable using electronic funds transfers. While that is a simple and immediate means of getting monies to needy charities, it doesn’t work well for everyone. If that’s you, perhaps giving to a local charity that you can access in person is for you! Visit your local charity office and put your monetary gift right in their hands!

Gifts in Kind during the Canada Post strike

Many charities are in a position to receive Gifts in Kind. These are goods that can be repurposed and re-used. Some charities will accept household items and clothing. Animal shelters often have a wish list of items necessary for the care and comfort of the critters they’re housing. The limits of this kind of giving are as boundless as your imagination. It may just mean making a few phone calls to see who needs what, and how it can be put in their ready-to-serve hands!

And, of course, there’s always vehicle donation!

Donating a vehicle is an option in most of Canada! The process is simple and quick. The tow is always free, and you will always be served in a personable, cheerful, grateful manner.

The first step to vehicle donation? First, fill in an online donation form. This will take you less than ten minutes. Then, wait for your phone to ring! The tow crew will be calling to arrange your free tow at a time that suits you best. Lastly, watch your inbox for your charitable tax receipt. Even while regular mail is on pause, your receipt will be delivered right to your inbox within days of your charity of choice receiving your gift. Oh! And I neglected to mention: You can choose any charity in Canada to receive the net proceeds from your vehicle donation!

Kindness always finds a way, doesn’t it? However you choose to give in the weeks ahead, it’s exciting to think that it will serve the charity you most care about. There’s something satisfying and positive about that even when times are tough for so many.

From that donation bin down the block to the auction lot across town — there are many ways to support the charity you love! Give time, stuff, or creativity. Be present, reliable, and engaged. Stay anonymous. Get loud. Support your cause, your way!

“Donation bin near me” — a top search with cool results

Donating truly is as creative an effort as giving gets! ‘Have an old door, tub, or window frame? Find a re-store near you and help a local family build more economically. Donate household stuff by the truckload: there are charities whose aim is to help home feel like home for reasonable prices.

And that donation bin down the block? Stuff it full of the clothes, shoes, and accessories that you may not need just now. Donate books, baubles, and barbies!

Your local animal shelter needs blankets, sheets, and chow.

The food bank near you? The shelves need stocking, and if you give cool cash they can stretch a dollar a loooooong way to help families in need.

‘Short on stuff to fill the donation bin? No problem! Share your time, creativity, and steady-on presence. Serve on a board of directors. Orchestrate a walk, run, ride, or nap for your charity. If you can think it, your charity can likely benefit by it.

Why some charities are unable to accept Gifts in Kind

In many cases, the donation bin is actually not an option for your charity of choice. Accepting “gifts in kind” (stuff) can be problematic if it costs more to manage the donations than the benefits the items provide. This is where the sharing of ingenuity, time, and resourceful planning come in.

Your efforts to serve creatively in raising funds and keeping the doors open are key to the success of your cause.

Why all charities in Canada can accept cars…

…without ever touching them

Car donation is an exception to that rule! Even for charities that are not set up to receive gifts in kind, vehicle donation is possible. That’s where Donate a Car Canada and CanadaHelps come in. Because we manage the entire donation process (from vehicle submission all the way through the sale of the car and beyond to the tax receipt), the charity doesn’t ever have to manage unwieldy cars or paperwork! Donation bin not required!

When you donate a vehicle to your charity of choice, they simply receive the monetary net proceeds from the re-sale or recycling of the car, truck, van, or SUV. It really is that simple for the charity.

CanadaHelps…helps!

For many vehicle donors, selecting a charity for their car donation is a tough choice. CanadaHelps is an exceptional resource in the decision making process. It can feel a little daunting to see so many Canadian charities all in one place! But, if you are unsure of where to begin in finding a local cause, or can’t quite remember the name of the charity you are curious about, a few minutes on their site can help hone the search.

Ready, set, 1-2-3

‘Ready to gift your charity with a donation that just won’t fit in the donation bin? Donate your van, truck, SUV, motorcycle, or car in three simple steps:

Fill in the online donation form (this will take just a few minutes).

Watch your inbox for our email, and wait for your phone call from the tow company (that tow is always free, by the way!).

Wait for us to complete the process so that CanadaHelps can land your tax receipt right in your inbox.

Your tow timing (or drop-off, if you prefer) will happen in the time frame that suits you best. This typically happens within 3 – 5 business days.

Our accounting is tackled at month end, so don’t worry if you don’t see a tax receipt immediately. It can take time for agents to get payment out to us, and we have to do our diligent work, too. If a car is recycled, accounting can happen speedily. If the vehicle is re-sold, it takes more time as waiting for the buyer that will pay top dollar can be a patient process.

So, while it won’t fit into your local donation bin, you can still donate today! We can’t wait to serve you!

Car prices are shifting — again! And that affects the offers you’ll see (or make) on that second hand Honda Civic. It’s also going to impact Canadian charities.

Car prices: Revved up? Slamming on the brakes?

Have you noticed that your grocery cart, gas tank, and electric bill aren’t the only things spinning you for a loop these days? We’ve been front-and-center to the wild shifts in car prices over the past couple of years. In Donate a Car Canada’s two-decades-plus of caring for car donors we haven’t seen anything like it!

Our donors have weathered staggering dips in the market. Not so long ago, there were months and months where a scrap car wasn’t worth the rubber it was sitting on. That was a hard hit to auto owners across the country.

A fabulous time to be buying a new vehicle; a terrible time to be letting an older model go.

Then, along came capital “C” Crazy! This past year older vehicles were selling for mad cash!

An old Ford Focus that previous markets would have priced at a few hundred dollars? Sold! For a few thousand dollars! Old, new, and everything in between — your four-wheeled wonder was worth hearty money.

A fabulous time be selling any ol’ vehicle; a terrible time to by trying to get your hands one a new (or used) one!

Enter Summer/Autumn 2023

I had the happy luck of owning a newer model Toyota for a time. ‘Wonderful Corolla. Sturdy, spacious, reliable. I loved that car. And right around the onset of Springtime this year I got a little niggle, “You know, if you were to sell this beauty right now, you’d make back every dollar you paid for her, and probably a few thousand dollars profit!”

That niggle poked and prodded me for weeks. I had all kinds of reasons why I shouldn’t sell. Good reasons! But, I told myself, demand isn’t shifting, and I have time to sit on this. ‘Really think it through. Be 100% sure I’m ready to let go of the car.

Finally, by summer’s end, I was ready to make the leap. I wandered into a dealership full of confidence. Dealerships and other re-sellers were hungry for inventory. I knew the market and I knew exactly what my car was worth. Just write me a cheque and send me on my way!

Yeah. Not so fast there, sister.

I’d taken my courageous leap about 2 weeks too late.

Two weeks. That’s how quickly things shifted. A few dealers and a hearty attempt at online sale later I resigned myself: the market had dipped back toward normalcy. I did make back every penny I originally paid (Unheard of, right?! When have work-a-day cars ever appreciated in value?), but waved a sad goodbye to my hoped-for profit.

What a dip in car prices means for you

You and your charity of choice may have been some of the lucky ones to ride the wave of bonkers-high car prices this past year. If so, we celebrate with you! What a crazy ride.

Charities across Canada saw unprecedentedly high donation outcomes in the last 12 months as a result. High car prices and strong demand meant folks buying second-hand vehicles were ready to pay BIG! That resulted in some deliciously strong donation outcomes for charities in every province.

As the market stabilizes a little, and prices settle back to something more recognizable, we will continue to see robust donations — but they will be more in line with familiar price spreads.

“In terms of Canadian pricing, all but one of the nine segments experienced a decrease; the most significant coming from sports cars (-0.61%), followed by near-luxury cars (-0.39%) and compact cars (-0.38%). The one segment that saw an increase was sub-compact cars (+0.24%).” (Canadian Auto Dealer)

Your car, your charity of choice

For some, it can be a little easier to part with a vehicle for donation if the value is modest. Some donors feel a twinge of disappointment that the car they’re donating this year isn’t worth quite as much as the one they donated last year. (ps: This is a real thing! Many, many Canadians donate multiple vehicles to the charities they love. We get our socks knocked off by the generosity of businesses and private donors alike every month.)

Whatever the market may be doing, we’ve got you covered. Your beloved…or loathsome…vehicle will make a marked difference for your chosen cause.

The process is simple, quick, and free. Free for you; free for your charity. Any charity in Canada can benefit, and you will always receive a tax receipt for your donation.

Vehicle mechanics are key to the vehicle donation process. Donate a Car Canada is grateful to the dozens of honest and generous crews that serve with us. In every province, every day, there are admin teams, tow guys, and fix-it professionals that ensure the highest donation outcomes possible for any charity in Canada!

Mechanics: making a difference everyday

Chances are, you are in some way dependent on a bunch of metal wrapped around an engine. ‘Maybe you have four wheels under you; maybe you have just two. You might be a whiz with a wrench and a whatsit? Or, like me, you may be wholly dependent on a professional that is. Sometimes this dependence gets me into a questionable relationship with a shady dealin’, unpopular mechanic!

More often? I’m met with skill, knowledge, and this-is-just-what-stuff-costs integrity.

Donate a Car Canada is (so!) privileged to be served by over 100 agents across Canada. Some of our agents are in the office, some are on the tow trucks, and others are under the hood. Some? Well, they wear all three caps for our donors, and our donors love them!

Others have a completely unique role in Canadian giving! Erol’s Auto in Cochrane, Alberta is one such company. Our relationship with Erol’s is unusual. They do not actually provide us with tow or re-sale support. What they do do is refer us donors. A lot of donors!

Since as far back as 2014 this trusted and well-respected shop has been assisting their loyal customers in car donation. That means they and their clients have impacted dozens of Canadian charities with end-of-life vehicle donations!

Not only do they keep cars on the road with ethical service and cheery customer care, they help local causes when the vehicle is ready to come off the road.

One mechanic offers some perspective

Recently, one Erol’s mechanic offered some thoughtful insight into their unique role. The photo tells part of the story! But they also wrote,

“If you’re dating or married to a mechanic and they tell you they are mentally exhausted when they come home from a shift, before you brush it off as whining or an excuse just understand the amount of moving parts they deal with on a daily basis.

Not only do our backs, hands and feet hurt, but so do our minds. We exert our minds on diagnosing the most complex of issues that no one else can and some jobs can become such a pain that it ruins our spirit and morale for a whole day or week.

Then we use our experience and common sense to quote the job without being unfair to the customer or ourselves. We put together a parts list, price the parts, and check availability only to find 1 or 2 parts are backordered and now the job goes on the back burner and that time and money is lost for that week.

We deal with warranty companies and customers letting us know that we aren’t doing our jobs right and are charging too much, as if we don’t have families to feed just like them.”

Pushing paper, cranking cranks, wrenching wrenches

They go on to say, “We handle just as much paperwork as we do wrenches and if anything gets out of organization, it feels like the whole world is backing up behind us and getting back ahead is an impossible feat.

People will tell you to never take work home with you. They’ll tell you to ‘leave it at the gate when you leave’. All of this is not possible for a mechanic. The job requires us to retain an amount of knowledge, experience, training, expertise, and work ethic that most will never experience in their lifetime and that is not something that can just be turned off when we clock out, which is why you’ll notice most any mechanic you meet can not relax and sit still for very long outside of work. There’s always work to be done whether it be at home or on a side job.

The stress and workload follow us everywhere we go but it’s something most of us have learned to live with and that’s what makes us such a rare and dying breed. If it was easy, everyone would do it! Thank a mechanic next time you see them.”

In praise of the mechanics that keep us rollin’

Are you feelin’ it? Just a little? That wave of, “Ooooh. I didn’t know that.” What if for every shady mechanic you’ve ever been taken by, there are a dozen hard-working and honest professionals? Folks just doing their best work. Their life’s work. And most certainly a critically important work! Like the crews at Erol’s.

Around here? We are grateful!

If you are ready to donate your unused, unwanted motorcycle, van, truck, SUV, or car, we have crews at the ready to serve in every province!

Whether your donated vehicle is re-sale ready or rolling toward retirement, it’s likely vehicle mechanics will have eyes on it at some point. And our 100+ agents will do right by you, and by your charity!

Click the big red button below to donate. ‘Prefer to talk to a funny and caring human? Call in to 1-877-250-4904. Then, wait just a day or two to get a call to arrange your free tow. Next? Sit back and wait for your tax receipt to land in your in box!

You are also invited to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. There you will be able to keep up-to-date on posts that showcase amazing donors and charities in every province in Canada!

Driverless cars, according to Stanford Magazine, could number as high as 10 million by 2020. That means engineers, designers, and dreamers are hard at work. They’re exploring the strengths and the risks. They’re fine-tuning ethics and preparing for eventualities. And they’re doing a lot of driving. Or not-driving as needs be.

Stanford Magazine on self-driving technology

For an engaging and robust article on the topic of driverless cars, check out “In Two Years, There Could Be 10 Million Self-Driving Cars on the Roads,” by Melinda Sacks. Fian Arroyo provides witty and delightful illustrations:

Sack’s article invites questions: is this imminent technology exciting? Dangerous? Sustainable? With projections on fuel costs, parking adjustments, and what self-driving vehicles mean for our feelings of ownership and independence, give her a read!

Driverless cars and your donations

Many of our donors come to us having spent years considering donating a vehicle to charity. Some even donate their car, change their minds, and come back to us with the same vehicle a few months later. It’s hard to give up our faithful rides! Keep us in mind as we move closer and closer to the freedom of self-driving technology? Your charity of choice will thank you!

A visit to the Kids Help Phone website inspires hope. They have resources and supports, reflections and kudos. You may wish to read their 2016 impact report?

Here’s just a snippet of what we loved on their website:

Now more than ever, kids need Kids Help Phone.

Our professional counsellors are continually in touch with young people from across the country. This contact keeps us keenly aware of the emerging needs of young people and the year-over-year growth in demand for our services.

In fact, since 2010, telephone counselling has increased by 127%. This indicates that while Kids Help Phone now offers our trusted support online, many young people still want to hear a voice at the other end of the line. Our professional counsellors are there for that, ready to talk to kids, no matter how big or how small their problem may seem.

So just how important are our services? Consider that since 2013, there has been:

29% increase in counselling sessions from young people struggling with mental and emotional health concerns

22% increase in counselling sessions from young people experiencing suicidal thoughts

29% increase in demand for Live Chat counselling

16% increase in callers aged 17-20+ who, in general, deal with a far more complex range of issues

These are just a few of the indications that young people’s concerns are getting more complex. As a result of this, it can take us longer to respond to their needs. This means that, just as kids are struggling with their emotions and life challenges, we find ourselves struggling sometimes too – just to keep up with their demand for our service. That’s because more youth need us now than ever before.

Nonetheless, we are proud to report that when a child calls our counselling line, the average wait time in 2013 was only 26 seconds before one of our professional, caring counsellors answered their call.

But we’d like to do more. We’d like to expand our Live Chat service hours so even more kids can connect with us and get the support that they need. We want to provide more time for kids to chat with our counsellors, and less time waiting in queue.

We want to do this to help the young people who reach out to us in need. But we can’t without you. DONATE, and let’s accomplish this together.

You can help through the Donate a Car Canada program

Your donation-ready vehicle, whether re-sold or recycled, will help the kids you care about!

Fans of the Toronto Argos and the Hamilton Ti Cats might have something to say about that! They put their friendly rivalry to good work in a recent Labour Day Rematch fund raising event. With a tailgate party to remember, one Ti Cat fan said farewell to one of his great loves. Moreover, an Argos charity made great gains.

In their September 1, 2015 press release, the Toronto Argos told a bit of the back story.

“Tiger-Cats fan Terry Cabral has spent the last four years collecting signatures of Ticats players and coaches on (his 1990 Toyota Corolla), which has been turned into a mobile shrine to the Black and Gold. Cabral adorned the car with a Tiger-Cats logo on the hood, along with black and gold racing stripes, a miniature CFL field on the trunk, and Hamilton’s famous ‘Eat ‘em Raw’ slogan.

Cabral posted the car for sale on Kijiji in order to raise funds for the Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton, and the Argonauts agreed to purchase the car for donation.”

Football Fundraiser Benefits Two Toronto Area Charities

Upon purchase of the Toyota (from a reluctant Mr. Cabral), the Toronto Argos made plans for an epic tailgate party! The fundraiser was unique. For a $5.00 donation to the Canadian Safe School Network, fans had the opportunity to paint the car “Double Blue.” Everyone had the chance to claim it for their home team!

That little Toyota ended up making a big impact for charity! Mr.Cabral’s original sale of the vehicle benefited his own hospice charity. Furthermore, the event at the Labour Day Rematch in Toronto brought in over $200.00 to the CSSN from paint-wielding fans. With the make-over complete, the Corolla was picked up for recycling by our Donate a Car Canada program. The result? An additional $100.00 to the Canada Safe School Network!

To all the fans and and donors alike, here’s to generous cooperation on and off the field as we work together to keep Canada giving generously!
