Charities keepin’ it wild in your in back yard

Did you know that you have local and regional charities whose heart work is to care for our wildlife? We’re talking rescue, research, and re-homing. If a wild Canada sounds like the stuff of freedom and planet health to you, you can get involved!

In a minute we’re going to give you a hearty list of just a few wildlife charities that you will want to visit. But for now, begin to imagine how you might want to help in your own unique way!

Wild Canada is all about hands-on caring

Wildlife care is all about you and I. If we each do our part to tend our little sphere of influence, we can make a big difference. Visit the charity you love online. Explore their Donate Now and Get Involved options. There is sure to be a wildlife supporting way that fits you perfectly!

Here at Donate a Car Canada we have one honed-to-near-perfection way: we turn your unused/unwanted vehicle into money in hand for the charity you love!

We do that in a couple of different ways. We re-sell donated vehicles via auction or other re-sale agents across Canada. These vehicles are sold as-is for the highest bid our agents can get! Donation outcomes can be thousands of dollars for your cause!

A car, truck, van, or SUV that is ready to come off the road is recycled.

Either way, the pick-up is free and the process is super easy!

Is there a wildlife charity near me?

Yes! You can choose ANY Canadian charity to receive your vehicle donation. Here are just a few to choose from:

Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation

Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary

Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society

Critter Care Wildlife Society

Hope for Wildlife Society

Kawartha Wildlife Centre

MARS Wildlife Rescue Centre

Medicine River Wildlife Centre

Northern Lights Wildlife Society

Northwest Wildlife Preservation Society

Procyon Wildlife

Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre

Shades of Hope Wildlife Refuge

The Calgary Zoological Society

Toronto Wildlife Centre

Valley Zoo Development Society

WILDnorthab

World Wildlife Fund Canada

Zoocheck

I’m ready to hand my car over to the wild!

At-a-glance: Five Hyundai Elantra donors helping 5 different charities!

Oh, the difference one little Elantra can make!

Who is on the block for Elantra donations as I write this up? Heart and Stroke Foundation, Ontario SPCA and Humane Society, Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario, Team Cat Rescue, and Valour Place Society!

Five Hyundai donors, five charities-of-choice. This is the beautiful giving impact of Canadian donors! And it is the heartwork of Donate a Car Canada.

One of the everyday joys of working at Donate a Car Canada is the scope of the charities we serve. There is a charity for every cause you can imagine! ‘Love donkeys? There’s a charity for that. Are you all about hand bells? We ring it in for that cause, too. Community, cancer, kids, and critters: your car donation can go to any charity you love!

How much can your Hyundai earn for your cause?

Every donated car (Elantra, or otherwise) is assessed, as-is, case-by-case. We and our charities have been at this for over two decadea. We roll with current markets: when scrap metal is valued strongly, it’s a big win for charity!

Have you noticed the strength of the re-sale market for cars right now? It is a Goodness for your charity. When we recycle a car, truck, van, or SUV the donation outcome varies. This is most strongly affected by your location. In many provinces we are currently seeing donation outcomes for around $300.00 – $500.00 on scrap cars! This is big shift from the metal crash a few years ago when the same cars were worth less than $100.00. We are loving 2022!

However, not all donated vehicles are ready for recycling. Whenever we can, we assign your donated car to re-sale. This happens through auction and re-sale agents across the country. They put donated vehicles up for sale as-is, to the highest bidder. ‘Highest bid takes the car. Your charity? They receive the net proceeds.

One of this week’s five Elantra donors will have a $5,000.00+ donation issued in their name!

How easy is this process?

Donating your vehicle is really just so easy! Fill in our online form (you’re one click away). Wait for a call from your supporting tow agent (the tow is always free!). Watch for your tax receipt.

We take care of every detail along the way. You will receive emails outlining important information so that you have a robust paper trail for your donation, should you wish it.

You can choose any charity in Canada! Your charity of choice will never be charged any fees. There is no extra work for them. Their role in all of this? To keep doing the caring, building, researching, nurturing work that is their mission. And then to accept the monetary-gift outcome of your donated car, of course. We are here to serve them by serving you!

Ready to roll your unused or unwanted vehicle in the direction for the cause you love? You’re a few minutes away from joining this week’s five Elantra donors in doing so much good!

Your car, truck, van, or SUV donation can go to ANY charity in Canada! Like the Webb telescope, the charity you love may be reaching for the stars…

Webb telescope images sparkle

Have you seen the first images coming in from the Webb telescope? If that’s not a shot-in-the-arm of good news, what is? This beautiful testament to human effort and smarts is a welcome break from wobbly news. We love a little reveling in wonder and data and pushing the boundaries!

Big leaps like this come from many small efforts

One of the everyday joys of working at Donate a Car Canada is the scope of the charities we serve. There is a charity for every cause you can imagine! ‘Love donkeys? There’s a charity for that. Are you all about hand bells? We ring it in for that cause, too. Community, cancer, kids, and critters: your car donation can go to any charity you love!

Of course, none of those are directly related to space exploration! While they reach for great heights in their own ways, their hooves, paws, and sneakers area planted firmly on this planet.

‘Sights set a little further out? Where do you give? How can you impact future thinkers and creatives and explorers with something as earthbound as a car donation?

Gettin’ smart

Wonder. Curiosity. Imagination. Your car, van, SUV, or motorcycle donation may lead to the lightbulb moment that will one day morph into something as grand as space exploration!

Did you know you can donate your car to an education-focused charity?

Consider two that are already on our list:

Knowledge Network Corporation

David Suzuki Foundation

If you’d like to see a new charity added to our list, you can even select an un-partnered charity like,

Telus Spark (Calgary)

Telus World of Science (Edmonton)

Space Place Planetarium Canada (Toronto)

Space For Life Foundation (Quebec)

Every car helps your charity reach for the stars

We, working on behalf your charity of choice, will arrange to have the vehicle recycled or re-sold.

When your car is selected for our recycle process, the donation can be up to $500.00 in some parts of Canada. This is determined by the area in which it is donated, and what the market will pay for the year/make/model. The tow is always free!

Your vehicle may be considered for sale at auction, or re-sold by another resale agent. Several things go into qualifying a vehicle for re-sale. These include drivability, type of mechanical problems (if any), age, damage, visual appearance, and mileage. These vehicles are sold to the highest bidder, as a full and final sale. The outcome is determined by what buyers bid.

Webb telescope milestones inspire

Imagine it! Your scrap car or unused van will make a difference! Gift the cause you love that is making strides toward the breakthroughs you care about. Whether you choose to give to a cause that’s all about planet earth, or a charity that’s looking way up, the process is simple and quick. Just click on the quick link at the bottom of this post, or call us directly at 1-877-250-4904. We’re here to help!

World Wildlife Fund | A unique gift

J.L. came to us with a special concern. Preparing to make an out-of-country move, he knew he wanted to donate his Toyota Prius for the World Wildlife Fund. The car had high mileage, but was in running condition.

“The car runs fine but it’s an American car and therefor I cannot donate it to anything but recycling.”

Our donor was right: when donating a car in Canada, it must have been last registered in Canada. No Canadian registration? Recycle only. This didn’t pose a problem at all! The agents that serve charities through our program want to maximize every donation. The Alberta agent that managed J.L.’s gift worked hard to find the best way to get the highest return.

Rather than just paying out a scrap-rate for the Prius, our agent took time to piece it out. This isn’t always a viable option. Our agents process donated vehicles whatever means results in the largest dollar outcome for the charity while also covering their own costs. In this case, they took a hit to their own pocket so that the WWF could benefit with just a few dollars more!

Will my donated vehicle be parted-out?

We serve many wildlife-focused charities. In fact, if you have a Canadian wildlife charity that you care about, they probably have a vehicle donation program! We serve these organizations in several ways:

We recycle or re-sell donated vehicles. Visit our FAQ page for the nitty-gritty on how we determine what to do on a car-by-car basis. Your car, truck, SUV, van, or motorcycle is assessed on its own merits. We won’t overlook any detail! Some vehicles are scrapped; many are sold as-is to the highest bidder. This can result in a donation of thousands of dollars for the cause you love.

Our agents align with the mission of many of our environmental and conservation charities: removing unused/unwanted vehicles from the roads is good Earth Care practice.

We take care of every aspect of the donation process so that the charity doesn’t have to. These works are often operated by volunteers. Their volunteers are in it because they care for the planet and for critters. By taking care of the administrative bits and bobs, we free the charity up to do their heart work.

I want to give to a Canadian wildlife cause

There are so many ways to tend our earth and our wilds! Your regional charity will benefit from your time, your social media shares, and even from your gifts-in-kind. Visit your nearby charity’s web page and find their “Ways to Donate” information.

‘Ready to go big and donate your unused or unwanted vehicle? Here are some of the causes we currently work alongside:

My charity isn’t on your list

If you don’t see the cause you wish to support on our list, no problem! We are at-the-ready to serve any Canadian charity. It’s possible that if you visit your charity they already have us linked somewhere on their website. If you can’t find the link, let us know…or reach out to your charity to let them know of your hope to donate your vehicle.

Once we’re connected with them we can get the work done to set them up with their own vehicle donation program. No cost to them. No cost to you. Big benefits to your, your charity, and our Canadian wildlife!
