How do I select my charity?

When you fill in your vehicle information form you will easily see our drop-down list of charities. It is very long list! In fact, we have had some donors tell us that they end up delaying their donation just so that they can take a little extra time to choose carefully.

Is Calgary car donation really worth it?

Absolutely! Calgary car, truck, SUV, van, and motorcycle donors raise thousands of dollars for Canadian causes each year. Your four-wheeled junker can make such a difference! A car in working order? Well…read on…

Whenever we can, we have our agents re-sell donated vehicles. This ensures that the charity can receive a gift of thousands of dollars if the car has that kind of value.

We may recycle your car: this results in a flat-rate donation determined by what our agent will pay for the vehicle. This can earn your charity hundreds of dollars.

Nothing says it better than a multi-vehicle hospice donor

It is not unusual, having had a gratifying, efficient, and generous donation experience, for donors to come back again and again. One Alberta social services company is an example of the satisfaction of donating many vehicles over time.

When the support services entity originally found us, they had four (4!) company vehicles to donate. They gifted an entire fleet of five Dodge Caravans over a four month period!

Although it was a fleet, each minivan was assessed on its own merit. Some were re-sale ready; some needed to come off the road. Donations ranging from $500.00 to $716.12 were raised for each one!

With over 80,000 Canadian charities to choose from, the agency could have selected anyone to gift. Their charity of choice? Pilgrims Hospice Society was the grateful recipient.

But wait! They weren’t done giving, yet!

Not much later we found ourselves working on yet another grief support donation from this social services crew! Hospice Calgary Society will be receiving their proceeds from that minivan donation shortly.

Porsche Boxter earns $3,635.05 for donor’s hospice of choice!

G.S. is another generous multi-vehicle donor. She came to our program with Hill House Hospice top-of-heart. She topped her list of three cars with her Porsche Boxter. Humming along and ready for auction, this unique donation was a special gift, to be sure!

Second on her list was a 1990 Nissan gifted in honour of her late husband. It, too, was sale ready and earned another $1,318.35 for the charity.

Her third gift for HHH was a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle! It rolled through auction for a $513.35 addition to G.S.’s caring contributions.

While grief is common to us all, offering grief support is something special indeed. Death care and the depth of creativity, compassion, and good humour practiced by staff and volunteers in these spaces is laudable.

We have the happy privilege of working alongside Canadian vehicle donors in countless personal circumstances. If you are considering donating a vehicle for hospice, we understand this may be because you have personal connection to the depth of loving care they provide.

If you arrive to our program with a grief story (often folx are planning their own estate, or settling an estate for a loved one), you will be met with spacious compassion.
