Homeless and hungry Canadians — numbers are on the rise and winter is on its way. Charities across the country are rising to the challenge. You can help!

Canadian homeless | Cars create change

Canadians give to the homeless. A warm meal, an extra layer of clothing to ward of a chill Canadian winter, and a kind gesture — Donate a Car has receiving charities that are out on the streets, day and night, helping some of our country’s most vulnerable with shelter, clothing, and nourishment. Would you like to join them in your area? Donate a truck, van, SUV, car, or motorcycle. The tow is always free. Furthermore, the gift has no cost to your charity. That means more donation dollars landing where they’re needed most.

Who is there for our homeless (houseless) right now?

Read on to learn about outreaches in your area. Jump in to lend support where you can. Or, if you know of a shelter, or relief organization, that might want to benefit from our vehicle donation program long-term, let them know about us. Better yet, donate them an unused or unwanted vehicle!

Loaves and Fishes is hard at work in BC.

Inn From the Cold in Alberta invites you to sponsor a meal, or creatively contribute in ways that suit you well!

In Saskatchewan, the Foodbank and Learning Centre is ensuring support for the community all year long!

The Agape Table in Manitoba strives to provide nutrition and community support year ’round, too. Your contribution today will help!

Ontario donors may wish to connect with the North York harvest Food Bank for a Food Drive.

On Rock Community Services in Quebec is always taking care of basic needs in their community. You can join their efforts!

Explore giving options near to you in the Maritimes! In New Brunswick, Meals on Wheels Fredericton is always grateful for support.

Are these my only options when donating cars for homeless Canadians?

You can gift any Canadian charity through Donate a Car Canada. We do mean any! And we serve in every province. We’re not up in the Territories, yet, but we have you covered from the East Coast to the West.

Visit our homepage and click on “Charities.” Search, “homeless,” “foodbank,” or “housing” to explore the hundreds of organizations ready to receive your donation.

Then, the process is quick and simple! Fill in an online donation form by clicking here:

Then, sit back and wait for your phone to ring. A tow agent will call you to make pick-up arrangements that suit you well.

Next? It’s just a matter of time until accounting is complete and your gift is disbursed to your homeless assisting charity of choice.

Whether we re-sell or recycle your vehicle, you are making an important giving difference today.

Find us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, too. There you will be able to keep up-to-date on posts. We love to showcase amazing donors and charities in every province in Canada!

We can’t wait to see your submission!

Project Warmth Society is a registered charitable organization that provides warm clothing, blankets, sleeping bags, outer wear and related items to the underprivileged and homeless. As well, Project Warmth is involved with school children, under its umbrella organizations Kids’ Koats, Pupils’ Parkas and Student Scarves.

Project Warmth Comforts by Caring for Practical Need

In the past year alone, Project Warmth has distributed over 60,000 articles of clothing, footwear, outerwear, and more to families in need — often shopping to the specific needs of the most desperate.
As you ready yourself and your family for winter’s grip this year, consider working alongside Project Warmth, your local shelters, and other comfort-bringing charities across Canada in an effort to keep everybody warm and dry!

It’s that time of year! We know the snow and cold will hit most parts of the country, but we’re always in shock and awe when it does! The weather outside has definitely been frightful in our neck of the woods (Calgary), and it’s been a week of, “Baby it’s COLD outside!” followed by, “I can’t believe this weather, brrrr, we should move south!” Can you relate?

Snow ban, tow ban!

Listening to the radio advise there was a tow ban earlier this week, it was clearly a crazy blizzard. No tow trucks permitted on the road? A sure sign of bad weather! Through all of it I’m reminded to be grateful for the comfort of heat in my home. Moreover, I’m doubly blessed to have heated seats in my car and a garage to park it in.

This is the time of year when the cold becomes a matter of life or death for many. As we make preparations for our family and Christmas celebrations, some are struggling to survive the elements.

A growing trend in our over-commercialized world is donating money to a charity! Better yet? Donate on behalf of the person you’d be buying a gift for. What a great idea for those ‘hard-to-buy-for’ people in our lives!

We have many charities on our list that could benefit from your support throughout this holiday season. They in turn can make a difference in the lives they are passionate to help. Here are a few to consider as part of your Christmas list this year!

Boyle Street Community Services – Edmonton

Catholic Missions in Canada – National

Community Living Winnipeg – Winnipeg

Covenant House – Toronto

CUPS (Calgary Urban Projects Society) – Calgary

Distress Centre – Calgary

Hope Mission – Edmonton

Meals on Wheels of Frederiction – Fredericton

The Mustard Seed – Calgary/Edmonton

Project Warmth Society of Alberta

Salvation Army – Alberta

Sanctuary – Toronto

Servants Anonymous – Calgary

Do you want to reach out to any of these charities with a vehicle donation? We can help!

First, we’ll get you set up with a free tow! Once we have your vehicle donation form things hum along. So, fill in an online donation form. This is a ten minute task. Then, wait for your phone to ring (that’s the tow crew ready to set you up with your tow time). Next, watch your inbox for your tax receipt.

The process is simple, quick, free, and friendly! And every car counts for the charity you love!
