Once upon a time…

…there was an Ontario Ford Focus owner who knew it was time to let their little car go. The trusty, rusty old thing was stranding them on the road. What better way to extend a legacy than by donating to her charity of choice?

To their happy surprise, with just few clicks of a button, the Kawartha Wildlife Centre was set to benefit from the car’s end of life process.

The important middle bit

Hundreds of Ford Focus donors give on behalf of Canadian charities! Often the cars are recycle-ready. Recycle vehicle outcomes add up cumulatively for our charities. This means thousands of donations dollars annually.

We are also able to re-sell donated cars for larger donations. A Focus that’s running, in good condition, with moderate mileage could bring your charity a $500.00 gift — or more! Whatever the condition, we tend to each gift individually. Moreover, our regional recycle and re-sale supports give careful guidance about their buyer base. These companies know best-process in your area!

Our free tow is standard, prompt, and friendly. Once we have the Ford picked-up it’s just a matter of time and math. Next, your charity is likely to receive their gift within two months of donation. Then, a tax receipt to the donor follows within a month of that. Missing the receipt? We have a simple follow-up process. You will always get that receipt in hand!

When it comes to creative giving, you get to decide: What kind of giving suits you best? Are you an artist? A cook? Perhaps you have zero time, but a sturdy bank account? Money may be in short supply, but perhaps you have toys or household goods that you no longer need?

Vehicle donors make a difference

Each of Donate a Car Canada’s receiving charities is served personally. We craft a vehicle donation program specific to their unique work. That’s our version of “creative giving” and it includes everything from exceptional donor support to color matching!

Furthermore, we’re here to serve car, truck, van, and SUV donors by recycling or re-selling their donated vehicles. Each donor shares in their own creative giving way!

As we’ve been around for over two decades, we’re now seeing many donors return with second donations…or third…or more!

Just this autumn we’ve seen some multi-vehicle donations really add up for their chosen charities.

Some donors and charities to celebrate

We serve six Big Brothers and Big Sisters chapters. This Fall, T.B. donated a snowmobile on behalf of Big Brothers & Big Sisters, York region. Yes, you read that right! A snowmobile for charity! Thanks to agents that happily participate in creative giving, we have often processed motorized wheelchairs, scooters, and snowmobiles for dozens of causes.

But wait! There’s more: this wasn’t the first time T.B. had gifted four wheels through our program. The Canadian Cancer Society was their charity pick the first time they donated through our program. That donation? A Honda Civic. One donor, two vehicles, and two charities helped.

There are double donors…and then there are double-double donors!

Creative giving can’t always come in the shape of a car, or truck. We really get that. But for one of our November donors, clearing the yard of multiple vehicles was just the thing!

The beauty of donating a vehicle is that you tend your Self, your property, and your environment while also supporting your cause. In the case of this generous donor? K.M. gifted four (4!) vehicles. At one time!

The Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association is set to receive their fourth and final gift from the donor this month-end. To date, they’ve been sent three of four donations.

What did this multi-vehicle donor gift, and what’s in it for the CHAA? A 1998 Ford Focus earned them $450.00, as did his 2002 Ford Edge. The 1999 VW Golf and 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix offered $350.00 each. That’s $1,600.00 for the charity and one tidy driveway for K.M!

Your giving, your way

Understandably, we are not all in a position to donate a vehicle. Donating more than one vehicle may be right out of the question! If your charity’s vehicle donation program fits for you, we’re here to help!

We had the happy privilege of working alongside one of their donors — twice!

In 2016, Beagle Paws received a donation of $657.00 for a Ford Focus that we thought was surely recycle-ready. Our cooperating auction house thought differently. The auction house buyers thought more of the car, too. With a little haggling and finagling, the donor’s charity of choice was set.

Fast forward to the summer of 2020

It is a no surprise to us here at Donate a Car Canada — Canadian donors treat car donations a bit like tattoos: once you’ve given once, you’ll want to donate again! As a business that’s been around for a long time, we’re thrilled to work alongside donors like this every few years.

Our Ford donor of the Spring of 2016 donated again in the summer of 2020. His chosen cause? Beagle Paws. Again! His second gift to them through our program was a 2008 Chrysler 300.

As is so often the way with our multi-donation givers, this donor doesn’t make a peep about his efforts. As with his donated Focus, our guy submitted his donation form online. Without any acknowledgment of his extraordinary generosity, he simply gave a second car away.

Bigger outcome? Smaller?

Before we say more about how Beagle Paws will benefit from this donation outcome, let’s say just a bit about who they are. Why might our donor care so much for this particular organization? Not surprisingly, they’re all about one breed: Beagles!

“When you adopt from Beagle Paws Rescue you’ll quickly realize you’re the one who has been saved. This mischievous breed, known for curious noses and eternal puppy-dog eyes, are loyal, steadfast companions. As a rescue organization, we strive to find the perfect dog for your family and to ensure this affectionate, but often neglected, breed is protected and loved.

Once known as a hunting breed or outdoor dog, these clever pets are too often mistreated, abandoned, or left to live outside on a chain or in enclosed pens with no human interaction or compassion. Beagle Paws Rescue was established in 2003 to bring the breed indoors and has become the country’s largest beagle rescue group. Since then we’ve become Canada’s largest beagle rescue group. We’ve rescued and rehomed thousands of dogs throughout Canada and established chapters and connections in every province – but there’s still much work to be done.” (Beagle Paws, “About” page)

When an old car goes to the dogs

Thanks to this two-time donor, this hard working charity is going to see a sturdy donation outcome this month end. In fact, he’s in line for a a mitt full of the beautiful key chains Beagle Paws is offering their $25.00 donors!

Donate a Car Canada will be disbursing close to $2000.00 in the donor’s name this go ’round!
