Donation received! Now what?

Every donated vehicle is assessed for re-sale or recycle value. And you guessed it! This fantastic beast is ready for auction. The sale will be managed by Regal Auctions in Calgary, Alberta. Be sure to follow that link to see even more fabulous photos of the interior! If you can make to the auction, you are most welcome! ‘Can’t make it to the sale? Bidding will be available online, too!

The Ford Model A will go up for sale as-is. It will be sold to the highest bidder. The net proceeds from the sale will go directly to the Canadian Cancer Society. There is no cost or effort to the CCS in this process. Everything will be managed by ourselves here at Donate a Car Canada and Regal Auctions. Finally, CanadaHelps will facilitate getting the tax receipt to the charity so that M.L. can receive their tax receipt!

Happy news! We have a sale update!

For those of you following along on this Canadian Cancer Society vintage car donation, we have news! We are happy to report that the Model A was successfully auctioned in late September. The donation outcome? *Drum roll please….* $10,687.50 will be sent to the CCS in the donor’s name. That is a robust donation, and a hearty tax receipt amount, too. Big kudos to this generous donor!

This summer’s Jasper wildfire event has drawn a compassionate response from around the globe. You might have your own memories of times well spent in that beautiful part of Canada?

Jack Carter Chev is stepping up — once again — by responding in their own uniquely generous way!

You may remember their substantial efforts in responding to wildfire relief just last year? Scroll our blogs for the unfolding story of their efforts on behalf of the Canadian Red Cross in 2023.

If you have been following along with us over the years, you know a bit about our auction process. Whenever possible, donated vehicles are auctioned, or re-sold, as-is to the highest bidder.

In the case of these Jasper wildfire relief units, our local auction house, Regal Auctions, will be handling the sale.

Things are moving along quickly! It is possible that both the 1955 Lakefield Lakester and the 1962 Buick Special Convertible will go up for auction on Saturday, August 24, 2024!

First, simply fill in our online donation form. This will take you less than 10 minutes to complete.

Then, wait for a phone call from your supporting tow agent. They’ll set up your free tow in a timely, convenient manner.

Lastly, our agent will re-sell or recycle your donated vehicle. Then, the net proceeds will distributed to your charity. Just watch your inbox for your tax receipt!

Giving folks a head start on Home through Homestart

Good gracious, are these times tough on the pocket book! You may be working 7:00 am – 7:00 pm and still just struggling to keep the lights on. Ramped up costs from the pump to the grocery store are hitting Canadians hard.

Canadian vehicle donors can select any (Really. ANY.) Canadian charity with their gift. And really, whether you choose the critters at the humane society, the hospital down the road, or your local foodbank, in some way you are thinking about home. The people (or critters), the place, and the wellbeing you value.

Homestart knows a thing or two about this!

Homestart is all about building and filling an actual home. They believe,

And that’s where the Audi comes in!

Homestart has been receiving vehicle donations through Donate a Car Canada for some time. But we’ve never seen anything quite like Joey’s donated 2015 Audi A3.

The car had been unused for two years. The battery was dead, and it was parked in a tight little spot. No problem! One of our cooperating auction houses deployed their exemplary tow crew to bring the car to auction.

Sale dale was a doozy! Bids ran strong, and the car raised a donation of $14,640.00 for Joey’s chosen charity: the above mentioned Homestart Foundation! That’s the makings for 54 homes!

This at-home approachability is just one aspect of the CRC’s long reach. Every day, in the news, sometimes on our own streets, we see unique and crisis-driven need that affected citizens are not necessarily equipped to handle alone. Relief and aid organizations like the Canadian Red Cross provide everything from international disaster relief following natural disasters to at-hand support right within our safe Canadian borders.

Those engaged in International Operations with the CRC may find themselves offering physical relief through food and fresh water, or emotional and psychological support after a personal devastation. Their “Finding Family-Restoring Family” efforts reunite families torn apart by emergency circumstance. Their human rights advocacy touches lives impacted by violence and bullying.

Giving to the Canadian Red Cross

Strong backs and sturdy boots can contribute uniquely to their efforts, but a primary need is always the generous nickels, dimes, and dollars generated by charitable giving. Donate a Car Canada is receiving scrap and junk vehicle donations on behalf of the CRC ongoing.

Auctioneer a blend of magic and motivation

When vehicles are donated through the Donate a Car Canada program, they are either re-sold, or recycled.

The re-sale process is always managed as-is and to the highest bidder. Sometimes that means our agents are working the phones and spreading the word about a sale-ready car, truck, van, SUV, or motorcycle. They may even be promoting an RV or a boat!

Often, re-selling happens at a regional auction house. What happens at a car auction? The auctioneer (the person calling the sale) is at the heart of this endeavor. Their magic can happen right at the yard with interested buyers on scene to proffer a bid. More and more, online bidding is opening up the field for even more interested buyers.

Curious to hear how that may play out? We’ve just had an exciting Charity Car Auction! If you’ve been following along you know that a Calgary group of dealerships donated four classic vehicles for the Canadian Red Cross. Here’s just a taste of how that all came together.

Auctioneer brings it all home for donor’s charity of choice

What happens at a car auction if I donate my vehicle?

Your first step toward auction is our online donation form. This will take you less than 10 minutes to fill in:

Based on the information you provide, we will determine how best to process your donated vehicle. If it is in driveable condition, with reasonable mileage, and lookin’ good, we may assign it to auction.

Then, just sit back and wait for your confirmation email (with lots of goodies about your tow agent). The agent (either a local auction house, area recycler, or other re-sale agent) will call you to make pick-up arrangements that suit you best.

What happens at the car auction is a matter of time and process. The agent will assign your donated vehicle to the sale day they deem most likely to see the highest sale return.

They may promote your vehicle on their website, or spread the word in other ways.

You may have the opportunity to follow along online.

On sale day your donated car, truck, van, SUV, or motorcycle will be put up for bids, as-is, to the highest bidder. The auction house awaits and processes payment from the buyer. They then send the net proceeds to our accounting department here at Donate a Car Canada.

What about my tax receipt?

From there it’s just a matter of time until we disburse your gift to your charity. You can select any Canadian charity as your car donation recipient. You read that right: ANY charity in Canada can receive your vehicle donation proceeds!

Once we have payment from our agent, we disburse your gift. Your tax receipt is issued via our partnering program, CanadaHelps. This typically happens within one to two weeks of your charity receiving their donation. Tax receipts are emailed. If there is ever any issue opening the receipt, or if it is misplaced, we can simply and quickly have a new copy re-issued!

Charity car auction to showcase four classics

When Jack Carter Group of dealerships reached out to say they had not one, not two, but FOUR unique auction-ready vehicles for donation, we were over the moon!

Any vehicle donated through Donate a Car Canada is considered for re-sale. Wherever possible, we send your donated van, car, SUV, truck, or motorcycle through auction. Whether you are an individual donor, a business owner donating a fleet, or a car dealership supporting a cause, vehicle donations are simple, quick, free, and so generous!

Like so many Canadians, the crew at the Jack Carter Group have been moved by this summer’s wildfire crisis in Canada. They wanted to make a difference doing what they know best: cars! It was of utmost importance to their team that the proceeds from their donated vehicles go to the cause they all care about so much, the Canadian Red Cross.

’66, ’68, ’72, ’89 | Charity Car Auction making magic with four special numbers

Auction-ready and just so pretty! Jack Carter Chevrolet Buick GMC Ltd. is donating four absolute beauties on behalf of Canadian Red Cross wildfire appeals.

Soon to be up for sale at Regal Auctions in Calgary, Alberta (with helpful condition notes from the car dealership):

First on the list, a 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne Super: “Restoration complete about 15 years ago – about 30,000 miles after restoration. Fully maintained and driveable. A binder with pics etc is available for reference. This vehicle has been fully restored…”

Then, a 1989 Jaguar XJ12 makes the roster: “The XJ12 Cabriolet was reserved for only the wealthiest, discerning buyers and this is a good one. With only approx 40,000 original miles, it is in beautiful original condition and looks every bit the part a Jag should. Having just had and extensive service it is reliable and ready.”

Not to be outdone, a 1966 Ford T Bird: “Fully restored in 2014 with an appraisal done at that time. Really unique vehicle in great condition. Perfect for a vintage car collector.”

And last, but certainly not least, a 1968 Suzuki Cobra T500: “Two stroke Bike, low km but may have been rolled over.”

The Cause

It’s your car, your charity of choice here at Donate a Car Canada. For the Jack Carter Group it was important that the funds from each donated vehicle be specified to different affected regions through the Canadian Red Cross. Wildfire relief is needed in several provinces this year. For that reason, each sale will have unique impact:

That zazzy Suzuki Cobra will be sold to build the St. Mary’s River wildfire appeal.

Then, the Shushwap, BC 2023 fire appeal will be helped by the sale of the Jag.

What better way to honour that ol’ T-Bird than by sending the sale proceeds to the Yellowknife, NWT wildfire appeal?

And the proceeds from that 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne? Much needed donation dollars will be sent to the Kelowna appeal.
