Company giving helps more than charity

In the summer of 2021 we celebrated an anniversary of sorts! We first encountered Heritage Office Furnishings six years ago. Almost to the day of this original post. From the start they set themselves apart as a special donor. Their first gift? Three (3) vehicles!

Ever so quietly, HOF has continued this practice of giving. Just this month they donated yet another Chevy. Without fanfare they give Dodge after Chevy…after Dodge. This kind of Goodness is about more than just money. In so giving,

• Heritage Office Furnishings engages in good practices in managing their fleet.
• Earth care is part of the gift. Our agents endeavor to employ green practices in vehicle recycling and re-selling.
• Car, truck, and van donation supports other local business. Our agents, coast-to-coast, serve in your backyards.
• Canadian charities are supported. Again and again! Every donated unit is looked at individually. The donor receives a free tow. The charity receives the net proceeds from the re-sale or recycling of the car, truck, van, or motorcycle.

Heritage Office Furnishings has championed one charity many times. In fact, when we first joined efforts, this charity was not even on our receiving list!

The Regional Animal Protection Society (RAPS) can be your charity of choice thanks to this company!

RAPS

The Regional Animal Protection Society is all about critter care.

“Our dream is to provide a community where no stray cats roam the streets. All animals should be loved and respected, and have lifelong homes.”

The RAPS Cat Sanctuary was built in order to rescue and protect homeless and abandoned cats and kittens. It is now one of the largest cat sanctuaries in North America. The Sanctuary provides a safe permanent home to hundreds of feral, abandoned, and surrendered cats. It is maintained by about 200 volunteers who create a loving, clean, comfortable, and safe home for the cats.

All of the cats are treated at the RAPS Animal Hospital. This is one of the largest not-for-profit animal hospitals in Canada. RAPS believes that every life is a valuable life.

VOKRA

This June (with donation number 17, if you can imagine!), HOF selected a different charity. The happy recipient-to-be?

VOKRA – the Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association. Their mission? To end kitten homelessness one trap at a time.

“At VOKRA our mission is to end cat overpopulation and homelessness. One of the ways we’re helping accomplish this is through to Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), the process of trapping feral cats, spaying or neutering them, and then returning them to the location they came from. Trapping these cats and kittens is the first step towards finding them their furever homes.“

Your company can help

Home Office Furnishings is a rare company indeed! Working alongside them since 2015 is a privilege.

Nissan Versa donor lends a paw

One of our donors has kitten rescue on their minds. We have a charity for that!

At VOKRA (the Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association), they rescue, heal, and place cats. This starts with a network of foster homes. Next steps? Cats are matched with loving forever-homes.

VOKRA arranges the adoption of more than 1,200 cats and kittens every year. Their adoption counsellors follow a robust matching process to ensure you find your perfect companion. Moreover, they are always there after the adoption if you need ongoing advice.

Despite a dead battery and engine trouble, our donor’s Nissan drew a sturdy bid via our re-sale process.

What is the “re-sale process”?

Donate A Car Canada has three possible sale procedures that maximize the donation outcome for our charities:

1) If your vehicle is selected for our recycle process, the donation amount for a vehicle can be up to $300.00. This is dependent on the area in which it is donated, and what the market will pay for the year/make/model. The to is always free!

2) Further, your vehicle will be considered for sale at auction. Several factors go into qualifying a vehicle for sale by auction. Drivability, mechanical problems (if any), age, damage, visual appearance, and mileage affect this decision.

Vehicles sold at auction are sold ‘as is’ and ‘unreserved’. They are sold to the highest bidder, as a full and final sale. Outcome at auction can vary. As such, we cannot guarantee a specific sale result.

3) Our third option applies to vehicles that may not perform well at auction, but that are not ready for recycling. Our recycle/re-sale process will see our agent pick up your vehicle for free. Once they have it on their yard they will assess it to determine if it should be recycled or re-sold. This will be based on the current market. If they determine that they will not find interested buyers, they will recycle your car. On the other hand, if they see re-sale value in your vehicle, they will advertise it to their own buyer base. They will send us the net proceeds from the re-sale price.

Can I help with kitten rescue?

Recycle, re-sale, and auction vehicle donations add up. Our Versa donor’s donation drew a hearty sale outcome. It is common for us to see a donation outcome of over $500.00. Donations of between $30.00 – $300.00 occur on the daily, too. Moreover, outcomes of over $10,000.00 have benefitted many of our charities. Proof positive of the process? Donors often return to our program! It may be several years down the road, but when they’re ready to gift again, Donate a Car Canada is their go-to.
