What does it take to donate a fleet of company vehicles? One Saskatchewan company can tell you — they’ve done it three years running! And that is just the beginning of their neighbourly way of being…

Saskatchewan company, K+S Potash Canada, puts people first

We first “met” K+S Potash in September of 2023. They arrived on the site with a single F-150 and a question: Would it be possible to donate several decomissioned company vehicles from their Bethune, Saskatchewan location? Eighteen (18!) trucks later and we can heartily say, Yes! It most certainly is possible.

The company asked themselves,

“What does it mean to be a good neighbour?”

And they came up with a robust answer: Being a good neighbor means considering others.

They strive to be respectful, aware, and approachable. They aim to do the right thing, and to always keep in mind the full lifecycle of our projects. Being a good neighbour is a vital part of they are, helping them operate in Saskatchewan for years to come.

They demonstrate their commitment to being a good neighbour through community involvement and environmental care. Building and maintaining meaningful relationships with local Indigenous Peoples and communities in the regions were K+S Potash Canada operates is key to this commitment, too.

Building Youth in Saskatchewan and British Columbia

You’ll want to visit the K+S Potash Canada Face Book page! But before you do, we just want to circle back to this company’s vehicle donation generosity.

After our first encounter with K+S and their Ford F-150 in September of 2023, the rolled into our program in a big way just two months later. That November they donated eight (8!) more trucks. One of the perks of vehicle donation here is that you can choose ANY Canadian charity to receive your gift. This company’s charity-of-choice? Diabetes Canada!

Flip the calendar forward to just a few weeks ago: In early October 2024 we received another ten (yes…10!) truck donations…for the same charity!

But back to youth in Saskatchewan and BC. If you visit the company’s Face Book page you’ll see that this kind of giving is nothing new for them. They have their own initiative called Youth+Us with an aim to “build a healthier happier future” for youth. They are committed to empowering the young people in our communities and create lasting, meaningful change.

As of 2025, K+S Potash isn’t done giving yet!

We shouldn’t have been surprised, then, when this money-where-their-heart-is company rolled back on in with another multi-vehicle donation! Creating their own Christmas miracle, they started with a Dodge Ram. And ended with a Dodge Ram. And, just for good measure, included three more Dodge Rams in between. That’s right! They donated another five 5 company trucks.

Their chosen charity for 2025? The Moose Jaw and District Food Bank.

Inspired to extend a little neighbourly generosity of your own?

K+S Potash Canada is one company that has their community foot forward in Saskatchewan and BC. If you as an individual, or as a company representative, are inspired to follow their example, there are so many creative ways to do so!

For our part, we are at the ready to support you in vehicle donation. If you are donating more than one vehicle at a time you can even choose different charities for each one. The process is kept simple and quick. The tow (or tows) is/are always free. Furthermore, you, or your company, will receive a tax receipt issued to the registered vehicle owner.

How much is that tax receipt?

Donate A Car Canada has three possible sale procedures that maximize the donation outcome for our charities:

First, your vehicle may be selected for recycling. The donation amount for a scrap-ready vehicle is between $30.00 – $800.00. This is dependent on the area in which it is donated, and what the market will pay for the year/make/model. The amount that applies to you will always be clearly communicated and you will be given the option to cancel if you feel it does not reflect the value of your vehicle. And remember: the tow is always free!

Second, your vehicle may be considered for sale at auction, and several factors go into qualifying a vehicle for this. These include, but are not limited to, drivability, type of mechanical problems (if any), age, damage, visual appearance, and mileage.

Vehicles sold at auction are sold ‘as is’ and ‘unreserved’. They are sold to the highest bidder, as a full and final sale. Outcome at auction varies. As such, we cannot guarantee a specific sale result.

What if the vehicle isn’t quite scrap ready, but it’s running too rough for auction?

Our third option applies to vehicles that may not perform well at auction, but that are not ready for recycling. Our re-sale/recycle process will see our agent pick up your vehicle for free. Once they have it on their yard they will assess it to determine if it should be re-sold or recycled. This will be based on the current market. If they see re-sale value in your vehicle, they will advertise it to their own buyer base, selling it as-is, to the highest bidder. They will send us the net proceeds from the re-sale price. If they determine that they will not find interested buyers, they will recycle your car.

After the sale of your vehicle and our accounting process is complete, we will email stating the amount of your donation. You will then receive a tax receipt via CanadaHelps within one (1) week of the charity receiving your gift through us.

Our team of funny, friendly, efficient humans are on standy-by to work with you or your company on this! We have the experience and expertise to move things along in a hassle-free manner. And you’ll feel 100% good about it every step of the way. Not forgetting your chosen charity, of course! They will benefit most of all.

What comes next? Just fill in an online donation form, or give us a call at 1-877-250-4904. We can’t wait to work with you and your company!

Summer vacation and “donation” aren’t two ideas you’d immediately connect. One Canadian tour company pairs the two perfectly!

Turning that summer vacation ride into riches for charity

Have you ever wondered what happens to your summer vacation shuttle bus once its driven its last carriage full of tourists through the Rockies? One BC company makes it a habit of extending the legacy of those trusty vehicles.

The company owner first came to Donate a Car Canada in 2022. His 2010 Ford E450 Bus had been rendered immovable thanks to a stolen catalytic converter. $500.00 was raised for the Regional Animal Protection Society.

Then, in 2023, he donated a scrap-ready 2014 Ford E450 shuttle bus. It too had, you guessed it, a stolen catalytic converter. RAPS received $275.00 dollars to help the critters.

Most recently, this same donor rolled back in with a double donation in January! You read that right: two shuttle vehicles in one month. The happy news? These ones weren’t quite ready to come off the road. Auction-ready and fully of potential, his 2015 Ford E-450 was sold for a donation of $2866.15 for the BC SPCA! It’s parking lot pal, a 2011 Mercedes Benz Sprinter, went for a $1109.02 donation for the same charity!

Summer is more than just slushies and sunshine

The example set by this summer vacation shuttle owner is inspiring! Every vehicle counts — junker and jewel alike. Ask the care teams at RAPS and the BC SPCA: big donation, or small, when it comes to helping vulnerable animals, every gift matters.

This summer, if you find yourself tired of sweeping around that old Taurus, donate it!

Mowing the lawn for the sixth time and annoyed by that unused Honda in the driveway? Donate it!

This summer vacation, turn your imagination toward creative ways of giving back to the charity you love. And if that includes donating an unwanted car, van, SUV, truck, or motorcycle, we’re your crew! We’ll keep the process simple, quick, and free — for donor and charity alike!

We’re a click or a call away!

Clearing the company yard? ‘Looking to make a helping-hand difference while you do it? Fleet vehicle donation gets both done! The added bonus? Your company receives a tax receipt for each gift.

Fleet vehicle donation extraordinaire!

Twenty-two. You read that right: 22! The generosity of one BC company has set a new standard for fleet vehicle donation.

But let’s not forget about those who came before. Every single vehicle donation counts. Every month we see generous companies donating a car here, a quirky van there. Each one ensures a monetary gift to the company’s charity of choice.

Back in 2021, Heritage Office Furnishings rolled on to the scene with humility and flare, both!

Then, in March of 2022, My Tech Guys’ fleet vehicle donation of three S-Cargo units and one Alto (I mean…how fabulous are those cars?) meant big dollars for their chosen charity. The company wished to extend the legacy of zip and pizzazz that their “fleet of oddball vehicles packed to the brim with tech tools” had provided their crews.

And here we are today with a new company donation of 22 units for one very lucky charity!

The who, the what, and the wow

Imagine our delighted our surprise when we received a call from the now defunct company, The Vancouver Trolley Company informing us of their wish do good in a very big way.

Readying to close their doors, they had a yard to clear. Up for donation:

Prevost, Freightliner, Trolley, and cargo buses. Twenty-one such buses, to be clear! Seating a few to a few dozen passengers, these units had served their time. Some running, others done-in, each bus was assessed on its own merit for auction sale.

What a process it was to get these units cleared out of the yard and then sold! And how outstandingly generous the outcome for one Canadian charity.

Fleet vehicle donation math

I did a little math on this particular fleet vehicle donation cluster. Some units were down to the nubbins and ready for recycling. When donated vehicles are recycled it’s all about curb weight and balancing costs. A few of VTC’s buses in this condition brought in just a couple of hundred dollars each.

On the other hand, some Prevost and Freightliner units had some miles left to give. Going up for bids at auction, donations of $2,000.00, $4,000.00, $5,000.00+ were secured!

The cherry on top of this company giving Sundae

One vehicle in the mix of this enormous donation was not like the others. A “small” unit by comparison, the VTC also donated a Chevy Silverado. This brought their donation total to twenty-two vehicles in one go.

This one unit brought in a few sturdy bids, indeed! Over $6,000.00 was added to the mix for this still-truckin’ truck.

The charity at the heart of it all | The VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation

The Vancouver Trolley Company chose to send each of their donation outcomes to one charity. They opted to give locally, serving close to home as ever before.

The VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation was the happy recipient of just under $30,000.00 in fleet vehicle donation money!

My company is ready to clear the yard, too!

If your company mission lines up with the likes of these folks, let’s work together!

First, give us a call at 1-877-250-4904. Let us know the scope of your donation hopes. This will give us a chance to be sure we can serve you with excellence.

Once we’ve had that conversation we will ensure that there is an individual donation form in place for each of your units. These will include the year, make/model, and VIN for each vehicle. This allows you to log a clear paper trail in your company files.

Next, you’ll simply await contact from our supporting agents. These are the crews that will serve you with your free tows.

And finally, once each vehicle is either re-sold or recycled on your behalf, your gifts will be disbursed to the charity or charities that you choose to gift. Some of our fleet vehicle donation companies select just one charity to receive all gifts. Others like to spread the love around a little; many choose a different organization for every vehicle.

We’re at-the-ready to take care of the nitty-gritty details on this. Reach out today!

Find us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, too. There you will be able to keep up-to-date on posts. We love to showcase amazing donors and charities in every province in Canada!
