Nissan car donations come in so many shapes and sizes! And the charities they benefit? A different cause for every donor!

Nissan car donations by the numbers (and the charities, of course!)

Check out just a few of the Nissan car donations Canadians have offered, coast-to-coast, in the past few months:

A Nissan Altima donation for JDRF Canada raise, $2053.75 at auction in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Thank you Elizabeth!

Diabetes Canada received a $698.27 Nissan Versa donation in Kemptville, Ontario thanks to Chris!

A little Leaf’s auction proceeds went to the donor’s charity of choice — for a whopping $5895.75.

Edmonton’s Michael and Sarah chose the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories for their Nissan Pathfinder donation of $5034.00!

Krystin’s Nissan Sentra raised $926.75 for Ronald McDonald House Children’s Charities, South Central Ontario!

A recycle-ready Rogue was donated for the BC SPCA on Vancouver Island. And last, but not least, a scrap Xterra raised solid funds for STARS Foundation.

How it all adds up

Freedom of choice is crucial to the vehicle donation process. CanadaHelps allows for a robust and heart-led exploration of just how many charities there are to pick from in Canada. They are also working alongside us to ensure that charities receive their funds, and you, the donor, receive your tax receipt.

The process is simple, quick, and free. Yup! You read that right: even the tow is free! And your chosen charity will never pay a penny for our service to them.

Donate your unused vehicle today in 3 easy steps:

Click the big red button below. Your donation form will take just a few minutes to complete.

Wait for the phone call that will allow you to set up your free tow!

Watch your inbox for your tax receipt.

Alzheimer’s Disease and the Alzheimer’s Society

“More than 600,000 Canadians are living with dementia today, a number projected to double in less than 10 years. The impact doesn’t stop there, because 1 in 5 Canadians have experience caring for someone with dementia.” The Alzheimer’s Society

Alzheimer’s Disease affects us all. We are working together, across the country, to see breakthroughs in research and care for our loved ones.

The Alzheimer Society of Calgary notes,

As our population ages and (Canadians) are living longer, it’s become increasingly important to have a basic understanding of dementia, how to maintain the health of your brain and reduce your risk for Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias later in life. Currently, the lifetime risk of developing dementia is 1 in 4 for women and 1 in 6 for men.

Resources and support area available to your family if you are facing this issue for the first time. If this is a disease that is impacting your family, reach out to the professionals and groups near you that can come alongside you and your loved ones.

You can help!

Explore your local Alzheimer Society chapter for ways that you can serve in your part of Canada. Join a walk. Give a financial gift. Volunteer. There are many ways to participate!

‘Need more information, or simply seeking to get informed? Visit their website to learn (so much!) more.

Since the turn of the calendar in 2016, Donate a Car Canada has worked alongside hundreds of car, truck, van, suv, and motorcycle donors whose heart-cause is Alzheimer’s Disease.

In our early days, a Cadillac DTS drew a donation of $14,195.00 for the Alzheimer Society in Toronto! Today, it’s not unusual for us to see returns of anywhere from $300.00 – to thousands of donation dollars.

Sign me up to change my society!

Scrap cars. Running vehicles. We take them all! The tow is free, and the society will always issue a tax receipt. Whenever possible, our supporting agents across Canada re-sell donated vehicles. The goal? To achieve the highest dollar donation outcome for your charity possible. A win for the charity. And a win for tax time!

Your unused/unwanted vehicle makes an impact on illness like Alzheimer’s Disease. For our part, we are at-the-ready with exceptional donor care. The donation process takes just a few minutes of your time. In fact, in the same amount time it’s taken to read this little post, you can likely have your car’s information out to us! We take care of every detail. The charity will never pay for this care. If Alzheimer’s Disease is your heart-cause, caring for you is ours.

The post Alzheimer’s Disease appeared first on Donate A Car.

The best charities to support during the ebb and flow of Coronavirus ripple effects are in sight. Savvy Canadian donors do their research. They are careful in selecting who they donate to. We want our charities to run efficiently. Well managed with modest, defensible overhead is a must. Moreover, a charity should touch into our lives personally.

Your decision to donate your vehicle has come with thought and care. Choosing the charity that will receive the monies from that effort poses a unique challenge.

This is an easy decision for some: we give from the heart to the causes that make our hearts leap! Where the money goes is top-of-mind for others. Above all, give where there will be the best bang for our giving buck.

Maclean’s on who, what, why

Maclean’s ezine article, “Coronavirus: Where to donate and how to help Canada’s most vulnerable,” offers concise and valuable direction. If you’re looking to donate specifically to needs arising from the pandemic, this article will help!

Many of the charities noted in on their break-out lists are charities that we work to support daily. Note the Canadian Mental Health Association, The Salvation Army, and Food Banks Canada. These are on the short-list for monetary donation. Further, SOS Children’s Villages and Kids Help Phone are high on the list.

Concerned for the personal safety of women and children in violent domestic situations, consider donating. The Canadian Women’s Foundation, Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter, and your own local shelter need you.

Similarly, we have seen how aggressively COVID-19 has impacted our Canadian seniors. The Alzheimer Society in your province needs your giving dollars now.

Canadians are all affected

As you’ll see in the Maclean’s article, these quick acknowledgments skim the surface. We should state that impact has rippled to all sectors of our society. Consider gifting indigenous causes, or, turn your attention toward those with special needs. ‘Just plum tuckered out thinking about your fellow human? Why not consider a gift to any of our animal charities? It will be welcome!

As quoted by her son two weeks after moving into One Kenton Place.

What is Alzheimer’s Disease?

Alzheimer Society of Toronto on mission

The mission, role, and vision of the Alzheimer Society are to ease the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. They also promote research.

They offer support, information, and education to people with dementia. This extends to the families and caregivers affected, too. Increasing public awareness of dementia, they foster services that respect the dignity of the individual.

A world without Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Visit the TAS website to learn so much more! They offer information, support, and programming at this regional branch of the country-wide charity. The charity envisions a world free of this unique heartache and their site can bring you in on that effort!

Toronto Alzheimer Society blog is full of hope

Frederick Lafleur writes the following in his hope-filled blog post:
“Mrs. Jacobs is 96 years old and lives with dementia. She was brought to One Kenton Place by her loving and doting children after an extensive search of the city’s array of memory care residences.

“Why did you choose One Kenton Place?” I asked her son.

“You could feel the love and compassion the moment you stepped through these doors,” he replied.

Since One Kenton Place opened its doors in 2014, our primary focus has been on creating an environment rooted in resident-centred care. As we moved through our process of welcoming new residents to our home, we asked ourselves, ‘Are we truly resident-centered?’ Does our perception of quality care mirror the perceptions of our residents and their families? With longer life expectancies, levels of care are changing within the senior living sector, particularly in the areas of memory care. So, how do we really know that we’re truly delivering quality care, and have been successful in accomplishing our resident-centred goals?

Resident’s quality of life and recovery of spirit says it all

Through client testimonials, that’s how….

“My husband never said more than four words at home, but he hasn’t stopped talking since he came here!” – Mr. Jones’ wife. as quoted a week after he moved into One Kenton Place.

Mr. Jones has been living with Alzheimer’s disease for the past ten years, and had been living at home. As his day-to-day needs grew in complexity, Mr. Jones’ loving and dedicated wife had to make the difficult decision to move him into a memory care residence. After visiting One Kenton Place she knew it was the right fit for him.

“How is everything going so far?” I asked his wife after one of her visits.

“Amazing! Just amazing! My husband is a completely different person here,” she replied.

Where you come in

Providing personalized care without compromise in a joyful and loving home for all people living with dementia is one of our guiding principles. However, making it a reality for all of our residents is our MISSION.”

Are you looking for support on behalf of yourself, or a loved one, living with Alzheimer’s or dementia? Visit www.alz.to for direction, instruction, and compassionate support. They are ready and eager to help!

The help those diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s, as well as the people who love and care for them. We are excited to share that thousands of your donor dollars are being directed to their work.

“Dad has been moved into a nursing home.” These are familiar words as our senior donors navigate the unsettling life change of relinquishing their car keys. Families lovingly tend the emotional work of managing a loved one’s estate.

Letting go of a vehicle is not easy. Your role in supporting your Mom or Dad with what feels like the loss of independence is a weighty one, too!

Stories of the old jalopy that was used to teach the kids to drive often emerge at the time of donation. Tales of a motorhome that travelled coast to coast are noted. The boats that have given several generations many joyful memories shout reminders of the heart, humor, and love that the independence of a driver’s license and a set of keys can afford. It can be a healing and heartening thing to honor Mum or Dad by seeing their old car’s next ride benefit a charity that has been meaningful. Furthermore, this is testament to the memories and relationships their vehicle represents.

Alzheimer Society Benefits from Car Donations

This Spring and Summer, our Alzheimer Society donor families have had some exciting outcomes. A 2011 Cadillac provided a $14,195.00 gift to Alzheimer Society Toronto. The Ottawa chapter received $9853.36 for an ‘09 Econoline! Moreover, just under $3000.00 was sent to AS in BC for an ‘07 Calibre!

Learn more about the support that is available to your family through the AS! Visit them here to learn about early stages of Alzheimer’s, strategies for living well with the disease.

You and your car bring the caring!

Did you know you can choose any Canadian charity for your car donation! In addition, we will take care of the ins-and-outs of arranging for the family car to find it’s new home. Everything is managed for you from this side. Not only that, our agents will be sensitive to your particular situation, and to the needs of your loved one. This while capably arranging your free tow. From there it’s just a matter of sending the donation on to your family’s chosen charity as we honor Mum or Dad by seeing their donated vehicle go on to help, teach, or contribute to research!

Your donated vehicle will be either re-sold or recycled. This is determined by year, make/model, mileage, and wear and tear. We will communicate with you at every turn so you know just where things are at in the process. Not only that, you’ll be able to contact us or the tow agent if ever you need to.
