The right to vote. Equity of pay and human rights. Freedom of choice and control over body, mind, spirit. Today’s Canadian women are standing on the shoulders of courageous predecessors who fought for privileges that many of our global sisters can only dream of.
Instructing, empowering, and enabling young women and peers is the mantra of hundreds of Canadian non-profit organizations. The charities walk alongside women as they seek freedom from abusers, hunt for gainful employment, parent their children, launch businesses, and make their creative mark on the world. They do this for those of us who live in this country; the do the same for women around the globe. In countries where the right to a voice, a dream, a job, a driver’s license may be a hope, not an absolute, our charities are making a difference.
