Big Brothers Big Sisters is ready to connect you to your mentor match! According to this Global News report, 15,000 youth are waiting for a big sister, or brother.

Other ways to help

Volunteering time is not possible for everyone. There are so many other ways to ensure Big Brothers Big Sisters has the resources they need!

Of benefit to you and to the charity: donate your unused/unwanted car, truck, van, or motorcycle. Your running and ready truck may be re-sold as-is to the highest bidder. This will earn your charity hundreds (or thousands!) of dollars. Have an old clunker to get rid of? Our recycle method will result in a regionally-determined donation for the cause you love.

Either way? Free tow and a tax receipt for you, and cash-in-hand for charities like BBBS.

Maria came to Donate a Car Canada in the midst of processing profound  grief. She came in a time when sorting through a few personal belongings takes fierce courage and willful determination. 

Choosing just one charity to gift with the proceeds from Anthony’s ‘02 Toyota Corolla was no easy decision for Maria. Tony lived a generous life, giving of himself to children, to special needs folks, and to those that shared his personal struggle with addiction.

“This car belonged to my son who very sadly is no longer with us. Anthony was an extraordinary young man — always giving back and was even part of the Big Brother’s program, on both sides.”

Tony’s Legacy Touches Big Brothers | Big Sisters

As a college student (he was near graduation), Tony was quick to give his time and heart to other vulnerable souls. Donating his car just felt right, “I know he would want to give everything he had…to help as many people as he could…” So, Maria donated that ‘02 Corolla to Big Brothers and Big Sisters Canada in Anthony’s name.

 “I hope (this) will give you an idea of  the Angel that looks over us and somehow gives us courage and strength …(taken) just a couple of days before he left us…he would have turned 21 just 3 wks later…on Canada day.”

We give because we love. We may even choose a specific cause, a specific organization, because we want to honor the one that left us too soon. Donate a Car can take care of some really practical details for you in that honoring process, and we’ll also share in the burden of your sorrow — the relief in your celebration of life. We have wept for Tony many times. We have deep admiration and gratitude for his mum, Maria. And we draw courage and hope from this loving family.

Maria and her children carry their own brightness of heart on in the world as they honor Tony. And Tony’s gift to Big Brothers and Big Sisters Canada will carry on its generous ripple effects. Tony leaves us a legacy of sharing and giving.
