From scrappers to sweet rides, Hyundai Accents, Tucsons, Sonatas, and Santa Fes are rolling in donation dollars for hundreds of Canadian charities!

Donated Hyundai models raise thousands of dollars for charity

Just a few minutes ago I had the happy experience of engaging a Hyundai Tucson donor. Her trusty and beloved ol’ girl is ready to come off the road. The donor is having a hard time letting her go, but she’s excited to be donating to her charity of choice. In this case, she’s giving to a human rights organization.

We’re working on a Santa Fe donation for a hospital foundation, too. An Accent donation is going to Ronald McDonald House Charities this month end. The Canadian Red Cross will see the proceeds from a Sonata donation drive on up shortly, and an Elantra will benefit the ALS Society.

Every car counts!

Re-sale ready vehicles are a boon for charities coast to coast. Whenever possible, our cooperating agents re-sell donated vehicles to the highest bidder. Vehicles are sold as-is (no repairs are done on the vehicles prior to sale).

If your Hyundai is rusted out and ready for crushing, no problem! We’ll process your vehicle for recycling.

Either way, the net proceeds can go to ANY Canadian charity. You can simply choose one from our drop down list on your donation form. ‘Still not sure about who to gift? Pop over to CanadaHelps!

Remember: the tow is always free!

Does the charity get the Hyundai? Or just the money from the sale?

Donate a Car Canada facilitates the sale of all donated vehicles. As mentioned, this is done by either recycling or re-selling the cars, trucks, vans, and motorcycles. Boats and RVs are occasionally processed through auction as well! The net proceeds from those sales are sent right off to each donor’s chosen charity.

For the charity to manage this process for themselves would be costly and cumbersome. From paperwork to towing to processing, a LOT goes into managing a donated vehicle. We take care of all of the details so the charity can just keep doing what it already does best: fulfilling its mission within your community, your world. CanadaHelps has a part in this, too. In addition to tending the possibility of donation to Canada’s thousands of charities, they also facilitate the tax receipt process for donated vehicles. Yet another effort spared your charity of choice!

Ready to donate? It’s simple, quick, and free. And hoping for exceptional customer care from real, live humans? You’ll receive 5 star treatment here. All day. Every day.

We’re ready to see your donation form! Need more information? Call us at 1-877-250-4904, Monday – Friday. Hyundai (or Honda…Ford…Dodge…Tesla…) ready to roll? We’ve got you covered!

ALS Society charities receive car, truck, van, SUV, and motorcycle donations. From Halifax to Victoria, Canadians are impacted by ALS. Not surprisingly, their response is to give…big!

The ALS Society and awareness

We are so excited to be actively working on many vehicle donations that will go directly toward donors’ ALS-focused charities-of-choice!

Regional chapters of the society are set to receive recycle-ready Mazda, Toyota, Ford, and Pontiac donations of anywhere from $200.00 – $525.00. We have some accounting pending on an auctioned Dodge mini van that will bring over $1000.00 for the BC chapter. And a trusty 2007 Honda Accord is up on the block for sale later this month. Ontario will be the beneficiary of that gift!

Follow the charity’s socials. Get involved. Stay informed. And discover how you can advance life-saving research!

What is ALS?

“ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a disease that gradually paralyzes the body. It leaves people without the ability to move, talk, swallow and eventually breathe. 80% of people die within two to five years of being diagnosed with ALS. There is no effective treatment or cure of the disease. However, ALS research has advanced to a point that effective treatments are now a matter of ‘when’ not ‘if.’ Research discovery is limited only by the amount of funding available to pursue it.”

More funding contributes to ongoing research. Eventually, improved treatments and a cure are the outcome. This is the goal of giving to this cause.

ALS Societies fund raise on a regional basis. This provides services and supports to people/families living with ALS. Furthermore, it contributes to the funding of the ALS Canada Research Program. The CRP funds research grants and fosters collaboration among Canadian researchers. ALS Societies advocate federally, provincially and locally on behalf of people and families living with ALS. This ensures better government support and access within the healthcare system.

Car donations rev their engines for charity

When you donate a car, van, SUV, or truck, you can gift any Canadian charity! There are thousands of causes, and so many charities helping in specialized ways. Donors respond by giving in unique ways, too!

Be sure to visit your regional ALS charity to learn how you can best support their work.

“Whatever your reason for caring about ALS as a cause, you are joining a passionate group…” People living with ALS today benefit from services and support thanks to your involvement. Research investment today means effective treatments tomorrow.

How do I donate my car? Is it free?

The how-to: So easy! Complete a donation form. This will take a few minutes. Await a call from your assigned agent and have the vehicle picked up. Then, just watch for the tax receipt to arrive in your inbox.

Happily, there are no fees charged to your charity of choice. Ever! CanadaHelps (our partnering service) efficiently takes care of getting your tax receipt to you.

Your car, truck, van, or SUV will be either recycled or re-sold for the charity. The tow is free — every time!

Once the pick-up and processing are complete, we receive payment for your car. We then forward the net proceeds to your charity. Your receipt will be out to you within just a couple of weeks of final accounting getting wrapped up.

Questions during the process? No problem! We’re easy to get on the phone and by email. Moreover, you will have information at your fingertips at all times. This is all about your donation, your choice!

Ready to give your own four wheels to charity in this way? We are ready to help!
His BMW netted $10544.75 on sale day!

Our donation outcomes in the thousands of dollars do put a bounce in our step. We are equally grateful for every steady-on recycle-ready vehicle that rolls through our program! Despite continuing instability in the metal industry, our agents continue to pay the highest prices they can, ensuring that your charities of choice see incremental gifts each month.

A big number like $10,000.00 brings big smiles in tough economic times! Canadian charities have been hit hard by the overall impact of job loss, unstable markets, and global uncertainty, so this donor’s generosity of spirit is inspiring.

The ALS Society

What will this donor’s gift go toward? The ALS Society provides advocacy and support to ALS patients. Furthermore, they champion research. Their site notes,

“ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a disease that gradually paralyzes the body, leaving people without the ability to move, talk, swallow and eventually breathe. Eighty per cent of people die within two to five years of being diagnosed with ALS because the disease has no effective treatment or cure. However, ALS research has advanced to a point that many ALS research experts believe effective treatments are now a matter of ‘when’ not ‘if.’ Research discovery is limited only by the amount of funding available to pursue it.”

“ALS Societies across Canada fund raise on a regional basis to provide services and support to people and families living with ALS and to contribute to the funding of the ALS Canada Research Program. The ALS Canada Research Program funds peer-reviewed research grants and fosters collaboration among Canadian researchers. They help to nurture new ideas and build capacity. ALS Societies advocate federally, provincially and locally on behalf of people and families living with ALS. This ensures better government support and access within the healthcare system.”

Your gift makes a difference

“Whatever your reason for caring about ALS as a cause, you are joining a passionate group…

Your involvement with ALS Canada means that people living with ALS today can benefit from services and support. It makes the effective treatments of tomorrow through research investment possible.”

Involvement through action

Gift giving and donations are one way to help, but you can support this work in other ways, too. Join the ALS Walk, volunteer in their office, or help out at a local event. Many hands make light work and your skills will contribute.

We love working for lesser-known groups, and for larger charities, like the ALS Society. And, recycle or re-sale donation, contributing to their efforts through the vehicle program here is an everyday privilege!

Just two years ago we saw a chilly fundraiser go viral. The Ice Bucket Challenge became a broadly known and fabulously successful means of ramping-up awareness the ALS Society. Originally it was a private call between friends to pick a good cause and pass along the dare. It quickly became so much more!.

Time.com does a great job of showing the chronology of the ice bucket challenge and the scope of it’s impact, noting that in just a few short weeks the ALS Society added to their donor list by hundreds of thousands of givers!

Single fund raising events, online challenges, and calls for donations via social media ensure a much longer reach for the hundreds of charities deserving our time, our heart, and our financial support.

Beyond the Ice Bucket Challenge

Maybe you’re ready for a different sort of one-time challenge of your own? It’s not every year that we’ll be in a position to donate a vehicle. In fact, it’s more likely that we don’t want to be in a position to donate a car more than twice in a lifetime! If that time is now for you and your family, consider the donation of a Chevy Tahoe managed through our program: $3566.25 for the ALS Society. A one time gift can have a refreshing impact — even without the ice!

That same donor, just a year later, gifted a second vehicle! We’re in the accounting process on that one, but it looks like his hard working, high mileage Lexus is going to result in a gift of over $3000.00 to the Canadian Mental Health Association!

Giving matters. Your gift helps. However you do it, and with your own creative spin, you’re making a change in the world!

By Shandra Carlson

Takin’ Care of Business (every day)/ Takin’ Care of Business (every way).

Just like BTO, that’s what we do at Donate A Car Canada too! When donors advise, “My Wheels Won’t Turn,” we are happy to help! We facilitate the donation process, transforming their vehicle into dollars for their charities of choice.

BTO rolls on up for ALS

You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet! Recently one of our donors surprised us with his 1981 Mercedes Benz 380 SEL! This was a vehicle he purchased brand new. He has owned until now, citing Life Still Goes On. We were pretty excited that a member of Bachman and Turner (formerly of Bachman-Turner Overdrive/BTO) was willing to let his car Roll On Down The Highway to the auction house in Winnipeg! The cause? Raising funds for ALS.

As a Canadian company supporting Canadian charities, having a Canadian celebrity is a joy! That he would grace us with said Mercedes rendered all of us here wishing we had been able to be a Shotgun Rider in that car before it went to its new home to a very lucky purchaser!

We just hope Mr. Fred Turner wasn’t singing, “Stayed Up All Night,” before turning over his Little Gandy Dancer to us. Fred was relieved to Let It Ride into a new homeowner’s garage. He knew that his baby is Not Fragile and will make another driver happy. And, of course, it will benefit the ALS Society of Canada.

We unashamedly asked for those in attendance at the auction to Gimme (Gimm-us?!) Your Money Please. It’s for a worthy cause. We Can We All Come Together to raise some generous funds to find a cure for such a devastating disease. This time $346.00 made its way to ALS.

How’s that for a combined effort in Takin’ Care of Business? A shout out to Mr. Turner of Bachman Turner Overdrive (BTO) for donating! His long time love made a difference in the lives of others!
