It's Wednesday. Have you seen that GEICO Insurance ad about being happier than a camel on Wednesday? He's my favourite and I've contributed substantially to the 21 million views, I'm sure! If you haven't watched it you should, so hear you go: Continue reading "Laughter IS the Best Medicine!" →
"We only get so many trips around the sun." I heard those words in a recent hit song and it stopped me in my tracks. It's so easy to get caught up in the angst of everyday life – the busyness, the stress, the responsibilities. Why do we allow all the crazy? When it's all said and done so much of it isn't very meaningful anyway. Here at DAC, we know that something as material as your ol' car can make one of those trips around the sun meaningful indeed! I have said for a couple of years that I don't know what I'll do when I have to let go of my beloved car. I still don't. February 26, 2014 is Pink Shirt Day! Many of our charities present pro-inclusion and anti-bullying messages all year long: Check out Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada on their Facebook page for some wonderful links. Canadian Red Cross has a history of supporting such great works, too, and Bullying Canada works to address hurting kids year 'round. Kids Help Phone is a constant presence, available to help just when help is most needed.
Pink Shirt Day, and everyday inclusion...It is an everyday privilege for us to support these, and many other charities, as they do the ongoing work of presenting messages of hope, support, and equality throughout our country! Donate your car and support the cause that matters most to you!
One of the favourite mottos with our Donate a Car staff is: "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for life." Through Plan Canada, children are being given so much more than just food. They've also been given a skill, a purpose, and a community. Continue reading "Skill | Purpose | Community – Plan Canada" →
As February fast fades, it’s crazy to realize that we’re already 2 months into 2014! February symbolizes so many things on the calendar, not just Valentine’s Day. In North America it’s also known as the worst month of the year for mental health because of the weather we experience and the affect it has on us. Heart and Stroke associations use this month to focus on the well-being of our physical hearts and our cardiovascular health. Continue reading "Heart Health: What is Love Anyway?" →
